How much do you want dungeon crawls?

I voted 4, but I consider that I've come a long way. In the '90s suring the "D&D backlash", I wanted to move far away from the same ol' dungeon crawl. We played lots of Vampire, DC Heroes, and the like to break the mold. Even in the Warhammer FRP campaigns I played in, the dungeons got boring...

    Vanguard:SOH

Hmm, maybe I'm just biased, but I think they need a better tech writer: Not bashing the game itself, I hope it ends up being a lot of fun. At times I feel like my WoW guild isn't nearly hardcore enough for me, or maybe it's the game itself. One day I may give either this or LOTRO a shot.

I Need New Dice! Podcast (New)

I figured why not and listened to your podcast. I've faced burnout a few times before, and its no fun at all. Hope things work out for you. As far as music goes, I'm all for it in games, but I haven't gotten very proficient with it. I have a number of soundtracks, and I've gone through...

Santa brought me [THIS] Cool Gaming Stuff!

Sounds like we have some really cool Santas out there. =) I got Cityscape from one of my best friends, and Santa (the wife) got me 2 Blood War mini boosters, and the Gargantuan Black Dragon miniature. Can't wait to spring that one on my Age of Worms group.

    Prepping Planescape II

You have my sympathies. I have in the past suffered through a rogue modron and a Xaositect Minotaur Warrior/Bard, but I've never reached the point of Disney familiar PCs. :D Otherwise, sounds like a good game forming up.

How many people have you played D&D with?

Good question. I place myself in the over 100 category. Over 20 yrs of gaming, with varying groups through HS and college contributes to ~65 various people. The remainder come from games at the FLGS, NC Game Day (Rel, Henry, BelenUmeria and others), and from playing and running games for years...

    Love and gaming

I met my wife at a Vampire LARP venue. There were immediate sparks, but we danced around the issue for a few years while we sorted out other things in life. Turns out she'd been playing tabletops for almost the same amount of time I had. I'm a lucky guy, I tell ya.

    Looking for good slaver adventures

If you were looking to grab ideas and plots from a module that wasn't neccesarily D&D, you could look at the older Earthdawn supplement, "Prelude to War". There was a section IIRC that dealt with the enemy nation dropping a magical fortress down upon the Abadoya Liferock, and essentially...

Is it O.K. for the DM to kill a character when the player isn't there?

PCs die in my games. It's not frequent by any means, but I do all of my rolls in the open. But I believe there's a stark difference between being willing to kill a PC and killing a PC when the player couldn't attend the session. And to the other question about what do PCs receive if they don't...

Is it O.K. for the DM to kill a character when the player isn't there?

This story comes up every year or so in my gaming circle. Many years back I had this happen to my long-term character in a WFRP campaign. I had to miss a session to go see my GF at the time out of state. The DM was a great friend, and ran some of my first games, so there was a lot of respect for...

    A City Campaign

Not everyone will have access to this, but Monte Cook has a great section in the Ptolus DM's Companion about Urban adventures. Lots of good information based on his experiences. The best piece of info I gained from that is to realize how parties will spend their resources differently in a city...

    Prepping Planescape

Hmm, I wouldn't mind getting a copy of said map as well. ( ruined at that gmail place ) I need to dig around for old calendar information. I know I wrote a javascript utility to determine the 'sigil date' for my website and the mimir, but it wasn't Y2K-ready, to tell you how long ago that was...

    Prepping Planescape

Sounds good, Ambrus. Funny that I was just looking over a scan of that street map that I recently acquired. Yes, the skateboarders must go. I'm in the final planning stages of my upcoming Planescape campaign. I've run the setting through four other campaigns of varying lengths over the years...

Ultimate Game Table Coming to eBAY

And it sold for $455. So is the lucky bidder a poster on the boards here? I'm curious.

    Finally got the new Ravenloft.

Thanks for the small reviews posted here. I was intrigued enough about the encounter format to pick up the book, and I'm pleased. I like the 2-page layouts, personally. I'm sure they can use some work as others have posted above, but it can be a great boon to GMs like myself. I know my games...

    Your Planescape experience

I can echo the sentiments of many PS fans who've posted already. Love the setting, didn't really enjoy the shakeup that Faction War provided. Dead Gods and Eternal Boundary are my favorite modules, and the must-have books are Uncaged: Faces of Sigil and the Factol's Manifesto. Oddly enough, my...

    Planescape Affiliations for Factions

This may be exactly what I'm looking for. I'm putting together a 3.5 Planescape campaign and was looking for a way to work out faction abilities. A cursory glance, these look good. Could you post more or point me to the source? EDIT: Ah, looks like these were posted on an earlier thread here...

    Trip question

Hi All, Simple question here regarding the trip attack. It's a two-part attack where first you go for the hit, and then second you compare the strength. What I'm wondering about is the failed trip attempt where the opponent gets to attempt a trip against you. Does this occur if you fail...
