Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder To Get New Core Rulebooks Soon

I'd love it if the new edition has some distinct sections that aggregate all relevant rules on specific topics such as: healing/injuries/dying/death (with clarification on treating wounds); Crafting (which is mostly in the skill part except all the chunks in the item sections); and my bugaboo...

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder To Get New Core Rulebooks Soon

I second this! I'd love a more traditional range of adventures for PF2E. I have never been able to dig into and enjoy the prosaic AP style. I'd love to see the methodology of modules such as are being done for OSE right now, but applied to PF2E or even 5E.

Pathfinder 2E What Are The Changes In Pathfinder Remastered?

This is a problem endemic in D&D in general, and its many clones. That said....I think it is less of a problem in 5E because of the bounded accuracy and flatter math. I once had a gang of CR 5ish Drow warriors take apart a group of level 10s, it was eye opening to me to realize that you could...

    Rebellion Acquires Tunnels & Trolls

I don't know enough about Dredd as an RPG to know. What I saw was this and assumed it was probably the RPG: https://rebellionunplugged.com/product/dread-dredd/

D&D 5E (2024) Rests should be dropped. Stop conflating survival mechanics with resource recovery.

For my purposes, this was a problem solved two editions ago in 3.5, where resting and recovery was in the sweet spot (for me; ymmv). Buuuut.....I am not the majority on this, so yeah. A lot of suggestions I read in this thread sound awfully close to the 4E take, which is concerning (to me...

Introducing a new group to PF2 vs. 4E?

As someone who ran a lot of 4E and also recently ran a lot of PF2E, I would advise you stick with PF2E and just forget about 4E. My experience with 4E was that over time it grew increasingly broken and difficult to manage*, while PF2E was a smooth and consistent experience from levels 1 to 20...

Pathfinder 2E What Are The Changes In Pathfinder Remastered?

I come from the Chaosium/BRP/Call of Cthulhu/Runequest crowd where tiny changes are new editions. You're right, this isn't a new edition, but this is why I felt comparing it to the D&D Essentials 4E line makes sense....its the same game, but retooled and remastered in a fashion that looks kind...

Pathfinder 2E What Are The Changes In Pathfinder Remastered?

For me its a verisimilitude thing. I like that a gang of lower level monsters can still pose a threat to higher level PCs in 5E, for example, or that that same gang can tackle a higher level threat and have a chance at taking it out. In my time running PF2E I really liked the encounter design as...

    Rebellion Acquires Tunnels & Trolls

Rebellion seems to be trying to revive the old Judge Dredd RPG, too, and has a separate line of solo gamebooks (Adventure Hub). Who knows, they may be the right ones to shepherd T&T into the future.

Pathfinder 2E What Are The Changes In Pathfinder Remastered?

Same here! One D&D and PF2.5 are making me really appreciate my Level Up! investment I made back in January, I am prepping to run a game of it soon on my weeknight group. The PF2E changes listed are so enormous that it feels like it will be more noticeably different than before. This will be an...

    D&D 5E (2024) How did I miss this about the Half races/ancestries

I mean, it also sounds like old world Germanic tribes in Europe, too.

    D&D 5E (2024) How did I miss this about the Half races/ancestries

The elephant in this conversation is that no one is addressing other media in the last twenty years which have represented a type of orc that is both desirable as a player character and often portrayed in non-aggressive or pastoralist roles. Specifically; The Elder Scrolls games and even more...

The Plight of Owen KC Stephens and the Quest to Help Him

Don't forget the liability insurance the ambulance company likely carries....they probably get sued a lot. Of all those pieces, the lowest paid component is actually the actual EMTs, who are usually underfunded and underpaid.

The Plight of Owen KC Stephens and the Quest to Help Him

Yeah there are some really unfortunate and weird rules which allow ambulance services to charge what they want with minimal regulation, and often with limited coverage under any insurance you may hold. If you have no insurance, get ready for another heart attack when the bill comes in....and...

RPG Evolution - The AI DM: The Trouble with Art

I think you are missing the point. EDIT: Okay, I'll elaborate; perhaps my one-sentence comment in the prior email is not enough to clarify the real point. So maybe a reframe: there was a point when (and I am sure you would agree) that most people suffered from predominant illiteracy and only...

RPG Evolution - The AI DM: The Trouble with Art

Maybe we both read the context of the post differently, but I felt the post was making exactly the point you are outlining. Just...maybe....the point being that technology changes and the roles in question change, but still persist after that upheaval. So: Monks - haven't had a corner on...

'Flabbergasted!' Brings RPG Hijinks into the Roaring (19)20s!

Apologies is this has been done but....shouldn't it be called "Flappergasted?" (Ba-DOOM exiting stage left fast!) Actually this looks pretty neat. Amusing that they need to make sure people know its not Cthulhu related, though!

What We Lose When We Eliminate Controversial Content

That is a really good point. The Seinfeld comparison especially, I hadn't considered it a reaction to more traditional sitcoms but that makes sense. White Wolf sort of spearheaded that in the early nineties, and at some point TSR sort of rode along with it. Very interesting, you've got me thinking.

What We Lose When We Eliminate Controversial Content

OMG I had totally forgotten they got rid of the monk in the PHB....yeah they added them back with another expansion book. And Ninjas, too.
