    Ruined forever

TV shows and movie cannot be 'ruined forever' because everything will eventually be rebooted or re-imagined or re-done or whatever. You just need for it to come around again. Right now, to me, most of the DC universe is just plain unreadable. That will change in the future, just as it always...

    Ruined forever

Nimoy was 34-35 when cast as Spock, Quinto 32. Not a huge difference there.

    'Student' athletes

I'd feel a lot better about that if college football coaches were paid on the same scale as the physics or biology professor, and not multiple millions of dollars per year.

    Afterlife with Archie

It's not too bad at all, and no, it's not for kids. You get some cool backstory bits (Like, seeing Veronica's mother meeting Sabrina's aunts, or how Mr Lodge became the big man in town), along with a perfectly in-universe reason for this horror: Jughead's dog gets run over and killed, so Jughead...

    Aaron Allston

Allston's articles in The Space Gamer got me into Champions, which grew to be 'My Game' for many, many years. He was the first game designer I ever wrote to, and he responded at length about his personal Strike Force campaign. He will be sorely missed.

If you heard the term "crunch renaissance"...

I would probably react negatively. There is far too much crunch in most games, these days. I certainly don't think it needs a Renaissance.

    D&D 5E (2014) My happiness or yours.

The very fact it can be removed and replaced really does mean it's optional, just like every single other element of the game.

    Heroes Reborn

The main problem for Firefly at the moment is getting everyone back on the same page. There was news this or last week of discussions in that direction, for something like mini-arc stories done with 'who we can get back', or something similar.

What futuristic job would you be willing to do?

Ice Miner - going out to the Belt and looking for that perfect gigaton chunk of ice and volatiles, put a low-yield engine on it and aim it back to the inner system, either for space colony water and fuel, or for terraformers to drop onto Mars. Postmortist - psychoanalyst for people translated...

What futuristic job would you be willing to do?

I haven't the slightest idea -- I know Friday dealt with genetically enhanced people. It's an idea you find in a lot of modern SF. We should be doing that in about 25 years or so.

    Work dress codes

Ours is 'business casual'; dress or polo or collared shirt, slacks, belt, good shoes. Fridays is jeans and sneakers if you wish. There's some stuff in there about hair length on men, piercings, visible tattoos, earrings for men and some other stuff but since I have none of that, I've never...

Why were fans disappointed with Battlestar Galactica's finally?

That was it, and no, it wasn't.

What futuristic job would you be willing to do?

This, or scout service dude. Be the 'first in' guy, the first to set foot on a new world, the first person to visit a star system, etc. Baby Designer: present people with optimal packages of genetically biased traits, and physical qualities, making sure that the parents genetic code won't...

A business/industry you would not work in?

Anything involving social work. I don't have the mental and physical constitution for that work. Anything involving a significant risk to life and limb. Debt collection (see above).
  15. WayneLigon

    Would you work...

No real problem. Certainly. No reason not to. I doubt a significant number of car salesmen are liars. Probably not, for the hugely increased likelihood of a sudden and violent death, or years of imprisonment. If it was what I had to do to put food on the table, though, sure. Have no problem...

If you were paid to be a GM

That last certainly figures into whatever I'd charge. Ballpark figure: $250 cash per session, $500 if done any other way.

    Living with low expectations?

It might be all that's needed. Depression is a major factor in a lot of things like this, because it eats at your self respect. When you have no self-respect, it's almost impossible to have respect for anything else, including stuff that belongs to other people. This dovetails into...

    Nuclear fusion in a lab!

Baby steps... it's a significant one, though. I hope we can at least achieve sustainable ignition before I die :)

Can words have power without gods?

If you're talking about a magic without an underlying supernatural aspect, then it probably won't resemble any classic magic. Thus, your main problem here. Maybe, just like we have people that can do 16-digit math in their head in a couple seconds. They're going to be few and far between...

And 'Townsman' for the 'middle-class' townie who is not an urchin or a noble.
