Judge Dredd had Full Eagle Day very close to launch which was OK but not as good as IMHO it should have been - for example compare it to The Awakening. Conan and Slaine did suffer from a huge gap from launch until initial adventures were released.

I couldn't agree more - particularly for new people to roleplaying as opposed to just being new to that particular game.

I think you're right - there's no reason to assume it has power beyond resurrection. But then why does Zym leave it so late to bring back Maliva? He'd have to be very confident about dealing with Conan alone!?!

Interesting - I watched this again at last weekend. My impression was that Khalar Zym was a fighter who matched Conan in their initial combat before beating him when Conan was poisoned. However, in the final fight (even though he's now wearing the mask) I never had the sense that Conan was ever...

Doesn't surprise me at all that exploration is one of the three pillars of D&D. My first experience was with BD&D and B1 - In Search of the Unknown! Nicely set the scene for how we've played D&D ever since . . .

Ah for me it was Cimmerian as in "Conan the Cimmerian". I always wanted to pronounce it as Kimmerian - after all it is Konan! ;) Even now many years later I still "feel" that it should be pronounced that way!

I'm considering running an adventure in Dark Sun. As I've no experience of Dark Sun, I was going to post a request that people let me know which of the published adventures makes best use of the setting (and by definition is least similar to a generic D&D adventure). I'd still welcome that...
