Dead Gods - As A Resource

So I'm daydreaming at work, and I came up with this: If there are Dead Gods floating around in the Astral Plane in the DnD cosmology, then why can't these floating statues be mined and smelted into magic items? Or even broken apart by stonecutters and used for building a stronghold? Wouldn't...

    Eric Noah's Info

I just purchased the Miniatures Handbook and the last chapter on Dungeon Delving sounds a lot like what has been proposed for 4E. Opinions?

Help from knowledgeable ENworlders about biology/chemistry/astronomy

Ed's pretty much right on the money (I'd argue the radiation from the gas giant part because it would depend on the gas giant and the star it orbits). Something to remember though, we have not yet found another world that could be considered to be even marginally habitable for terrestrial life...

What psionics to use in Traveller d20 ?

I've never tried it before, but you could use the psionic prestige classes from d20 Modern in d20 Traveller and it shouldn't break the spirit of the game.

Sci-Fi gamers: what's the RPG you use / prefer

d20 Traveller and Classic Traveller get the highest marks. Cyberpunk 2020, Cybergeneration, 2300AD, all the other versions of Traveller, and Mekton Zeta have all been very good to my science fiction gaming as well.

Help from knowledgeable ENworlders about biology/chemistry/astronomy

OK. Temperate-cold thin atmosphere desert sounds like the Andes Mountains on Earth. Hmmm... You could have had the world partially terraformed by hitting it with a few comets. The air would still escape over a few hundred years, but it would be breathable in deep canyons and craters. The 20%...

Help from knowledgeable ENworlders about biology/chemistry/astronomy

Will this be a hot desert world (like Dune & Tatooine) or a cold desert world (like Mars & Siberia)? Personal protection will be very different depending on the temperature. You might want to think twice about the helium in the atmosphere. Helium tends to be so light that it just drifts away...

[World Cup] The world's view of Germany - has it changed?

I liked Germany and the Germans I knew when I lived there in 1987. I don't see how my opinion would change just because of a sporting event. I would like to go there and visit, because back in 1987 I was in West Germany and there was still an East Germany. Although I chalk that up to a morbid...

A crazy woman just talked to me at my job.

I've developed the ability to stare someone right in the eye and tell them, "I don't care." It may be rude, but it gets rid of the crazy talkers before you have to make a SAN check.

What to bring to the company BBQ...

I always hated company potlucks. If I have to spend 40 hours a week with my coworkers, then why shouldn't I be able to spend my off time away from them? Anyways, I'd just bring a couple of bags of potato chips and a one bag each of paper plates, cups, napkins, and plasticware since everyone...

    Death to all Cat People!!

Before joining in all the cat people hate, could it be the way the cat people race in particular has been played instead of the race itself? There seems to be a lot of stereotyping here about the felinoid races. Stop the bigotry! Learn to accept your Cat people brothers and sisters! You can...

    Quirky Food Habits

Yes. I love the taste of parmesan cheese. So occassionally I go out, buy a wedge of parmesan cheese, and then proceed to eat the entire wedge over the next hour. People usually look on in horror as I do this. But it is so tasty...

RPG Illegal File Sharing Hurts the Hobby

I ran across an excellent article by Andrew Bernstein of Polymancer magazine about illegal file sharing and its effects on the RPG industry. Its worth a read. http://www.polymancerstudios.com/index_files/Page3251_w12_part1.htm

So how did the PC's get the ship?

Garbage Scow - The ship is old and the owner has decided to load it up with toxic/radioactive waste and launch it into the sun. The PCs can buy it dirt cheap, with all of its problems for being old, and with the added fun of having to haul off/get rid of the cargo of waste. A Garbage Scow...

    Alignments and Fashion

Artificially Gestated Humans and STL Colony Ships

I got in my old copies of 2001 Nights last night and one story had an idea that struck a chord in me, Night 4: Posterity . The story is about a Slower-Than-Light colony effort where the colonists were frozen spermatozoa and egg that were combined in an artificial uterus and birthed/decanted...
