    "PCs usually die of stupidity"

Oh, yes. We definitely need multiple choices. I've seen all of the above kill player characters. Although I'm DMing a 13-year old now in a game and it is opening up new vistas of actions and consequences I'd never even concieved before ("I strip off all my clothes and walk into the Baron's...

    D20 Future

May I suggest taking a look at Traveller d20 as a rules set for a SFRPG. If nothing else, I'd be interested in seeing your review for it.

Most common cause of PC deaths

Stupidity kills. Here's an example. First level party is out searching for a bandit camp near the crossroads of a few villages. During the wilderness search they see a black dragon in flight, carrying a cow in its talons, land on a rock outcropping a few hundred yards away. The dragon doesn't...

Most common cause of PC deaths

Stupidity. Players not thinking is the number one cause of PC death in my games.

    D20 Sci-Fi

Or you could just buy T20 and have all the rules that are missing from d20 Future in one volume. I sound like an advertisement, but really, d20 Traveller is one-stop shopping for d20 Sci-Fi rules that work.

What is the best party level to have a TPK?

So you believe. My own experience has led me to an opinion that contradicts yours. Sorry, but I disagree with you about TPKs.

What is the best party level to have a TPK?

When the entire party is participating in the Stupid Maneuver (whatever it may be), then it becomes a TPK. Not all encounters will result in limb loss, or be able to bestow curses, or give the players a disease, cause ability reduction, or cast polymorph. Here's an example. First level party...

What is the best party level to have a TPK?

Now, what I have is based upon my own experience, your mileage may vary and all that. The players are running the party, so it goes on up the line in lessons learned. I've seen truly stupid maneuvers from people in games. Things like charging at a foe who is obviously more powerful then the...

Name Five Things You've Done That Others Probably Have Not

    1) Operated the throttles of the USS Nimitz unqualified while underway so that the Throttle Watch could go pee. 2) Built bomb-disposal robots (and God willing will do so again). 3) Necrotized 1/3 of my left lung from pneumonia. 4) Found and became Father to my Daughter who had been hidden from...

What is the best party level to have a TPK?

Any level is good for a TPK! Seriously, I've really only seen TPKs happen when the players just absolutely strive to get themselves killed. I've come to consider it evolution in action.

    Traveller: which is best?

Honestly, the version of Traveller that I use is dependant upon the players I have and what kind of campaign I am going to run. Each version of Traveller has its strengths and weaknesses, most of which have been listed above. I will say that lately I've been using Classic Traveller and d20...

Traveller d20, hands down IMHO, is the best d20 SFRPG out on the market today.

Do you ever successfully remain friends with ex's?

Yes, although I admit that I have had a few ex-girlfriends who I stay as far away from as possible. The funny thing is this, after I broke up with my last girlfriend, I started giving her some dating advice and eventually arrainged for her to meet her husband. For this, I have given myself...

Poll: Would you pay for space to play?

I used to pay when the Adventurer's Inn was still around in Knoxville, TN. The dues were about $20 a month and we all chipped in. It made for a good place to just go and get away from it all, even if you didn't game that night. Unfortunately it is now closed. I miss it.

    recommend some good, non-gaming magazines

I usually run science fiction games, so I don't know how applicable these will be for you. Scientific American and Discover have proven invaluable to my T20 game. Another good one is Aviation Week & Space Technology which is a trade magazine for the aerospce industry.
