    Bladesinger Preview!

I am guessing that... (a) so that it can steal the wizard's spell list, for that "classic" feel. (b) there's no essentials swordmage yet (well, I guess there is now, and this is it) The only bit that I didn't like is that the class has to choose 1 particular blade to use as a focus. Looks...

How to make an AGoT Maester?

That's a toughie. D&D of any edition would not handle such a character well, which is essentially just a sage. Well, there was probably a Sage class in an old Dragon issue. But anyway... You could do a "lazy" warlord as a Maester who has studied combat tactics extensively, perhaps. Maybe go...

What is with these crappy Video Games?

I never played the pre-patch version. I understand that it had serious issues, but I never ran into any real problems post-patch. God, I loved that game. It was everything that the Bioware games should have been. Not that I didn't enjoy BG, IWD, etc. but the sorta-realtime combat and brain-dead...

    Space for Weapons

A narrow space is about as perfect a fighting area as you're going to get for a spear. I suppose if a longspear-wielding character was flanked in a narrow corridor, you could rule that they would have trouble attacking the opponent behind them... if you want to introduce facing to your game.

    Why not hexagons?

6 is less than 8, and there's no question of additional cost for moving diagonally with hexes, so I don't see "too complicated" being a concern, myself.

    Dark Sun... any good?

Also on the defiling front, getting to re-roll the damage for an AoE (which applies to all targets) is a pretty big deal. That said, I would like to see some benefit, even a minor one, to defiling with at-will and encounter spells.

What is with these crappy Video Games?

If you missed the Temple of Elemental Evil game (patched version only!), then you missed a real gem. It was basically a gold-box-style D&D game using the 3e rules and with good (at the time) graphics.

    Why not hexagons?

Hexes are fine as long as you don't have a lot of straight lines (such as walls) on the battlefield. As such, they can be put to good use outdoors, but in the dungeon they're more confusing than anything, IMO.

    Dark Sun... any good?

They did a great job with DS in 4e, IMO. The campaign book and the creature book are both top-notch. I don't know about the published adventure, as I didn't pick it up due to the bad reviews. As far as support goes, there have been a lot of great DS articles in Dragon/Dungeon, and a couple of...

    Backdrop: Daggerdale

Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game Official Home Page - Article (Daggerdale) I'm not a FR fan and haven't read through this, but while skimming I couldn't help but notice that the maps in it (one of the region and one of the town) are beautiful. Original work or reused from previous FR material?

    Eberron inconsistencies

So there are no fallen paladins in D&D? Alignment as some cosmic force doesn't really fly in Eberron, IMO. Or in any game that I've ever played in. Evil characters are evil because they're willing to hurt others to get what they want. They generally don't (cultists excluded) choose to align...

    Eberron inconsistencies

I don't know that you can't, but I think it would be difficult to square a LG alignment with a deity that advocates betrayal and trickery. And even more difficult to have a LG paladin practice such a faith, since the dogma is directly opposed to the paladin's code.

Regarding some Fighter's powers and feats.

And the Bludgeon Expertise feat adds +1 to pushes and slides. Although it's a feat bonus, so I don't know if it will stack with the other feats.

    Eberron inconsistencies

I don't necessarily see an issue here. In 3e, clerics radiate the alignment of their deity to detect alignment spells - it's not clear to me whether their own alignment comes through at all (and even if it did, it would be much weaker than their deity's). Who is a paladin? How do you know they...

    Eberron inconsistencies

One aspect of the setting I found undeveloped is: what does a world look like, where a significant percent of the population can change their appearance at-will and even mimic others? (suddenly I am reminded of the "Evil Doppelganger" legal defense in the superhero world of Kurt Busiek's Astro...

    Eberron inconsistencies

With the conductor stones, I thought I remember reading somewhere that they had warding spells on them. Certainly a glyph of warding is not that consequential when you can mass-manufacture wondrous items.

    Wik's Triumphant Return to 3e!

So what, indeed. I was responding to your point about single-classed characters being better than multi-classed characters, as a justification for why multi-classing should suck for spellcasters. Neither do I! I agree. So why should a wizard/cleric concept be party deadweight, again? Monks and...
