Well you can never please everybody, and with all the drastic changes made to the game some folks were bound to be put out by it. Even some who may have wanted to like it. Although the numbers are suprising, even to me.

Hmm, most of my 1st/2nd ed books were either shoplifted or on 'extended loan' from the local library. I have since, of course, repented of my evil ways. So, for me the price increase is large indeed. :erm:

Adventure! FTW. ;) Sadly, I wasn't able to get a NES and only experienced the original Zelda at a friends house. I bought my SNES in the Navy and found the newly released FF4. Didn't play FFI untill it was repackaged and rereleased on the PS.

That may be, but the wizards boards practically showed 3e players the door. I'm not saying they should continue to spend large amounts of time and effort on old editions, but cramming 3.x into the same forums as 1e/2e was.. I'm suprised they get any 3e traffic. That's an interesting thought.

Tried 4e. I ran the UGT through KotS and we decided as a group that the new game was not for us. We are back to 3.5 and may or may not try Pathfinder when it is finalized.

Of course you're forgetting the fact that Harbinger boxes had 12 minis ($.83 avg) while the last set had only 8 ($1.87 avg). Average price increase per mini? Nearly 130%. This is not insignifigant and was one of the primary reasons I personally, haven't bought any of the recent sets.
