    Quintessential but obscure 80s movies...?

I don't know about obscure but definately of cult classic status: Buckaro Banzai and Spinal Tap.

    [September] What are you reading?

The 1971 editoin was the one that was serverly edited. I have heard that the earlier editon that was written in the 1950s was better but I have not read it. The earlier edtion is much hard to find at any rate and I feel lucky that I was able to get my hands on the 1971 editon. For the record...

    Need good intro module

Sunless Citadel was pretty good but I would also recommend The Crucible of Freya from Necromancer Games or NeMoren’s Vault from Fiery Dragon Games as good 1st level adventures

D&D Movie: Wrath of the Dragon God

I agree with you. I thought that it was pretty bad. Not "Gigli" bad mind you, but still bad. Bad acting and sets that harkened back to such 80's Z-movies classics such as "Deathstaker" and Roger Corman's "The Barbarian Queen" without the benefits female nudity.

Do you regret the fact that you don't get to game as much as you would like?

Absolutely. I am waiting to receive my pre-ordered copy of Ptolus but with DMing the Age of Worms and playing in another group that is running Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil, I don't know when I am going to fit it in. I have been wishing to play Paranoia XP and Mutants and Masterminds...

    What are you reading? [June]

If you get a chance, check out Ellroy's "The Big Nowhere", the sequel to "The Black Dahlia". As much as I liked "Dahlia" and “L.A. Confidential”, I liked "The Big Nowhere" even more. One of the 3 main characters in the book is Turner "Buzz" Meeks, one of my favorite anti-heroes in all of...

    British Telly

As my avatar name might imply, I am huge Black Adder fan. I also have to give a shout out for old school Dr. Who, new school Dr. Who, Red Dwarf, Coupling, and The Office (which is, IMHO, the funnest show EVER to be seen on T.V.)

    OK, Conan pretty much ROCKS

I'm with you! I loved the R.E.H's Conan stories plus I liked the cheesy movie as well I don't remember the Mad Magazine parody but I do remember Crazy Magazine's parady of "Gonad the Barbituate".

What was your first gaming convention and what stood out about it?

Conduit 1992 in Salt Lake City. A friend of mine was running security at the time and his girlfriend (now wife) was running ops. I worked on the security staff but I still had a great time.

Great choices but I would have to add Sword in the Storm and Midnight Falcon to that list as well. I loved those books in addition to the ones that you mentioned.

    Bloodrayne on DVD

I tried to drink it good....It didn't work. Gigli was worse but not by much. What was the point of including Billy Zane's character? Man, the more I think about, the more I realize that this movie sucked. But I did enjoy Kritianna Loken's breasts though. I will give this cinematic...

Metal fans, come share in the love!

Actually, I think that early Rush was VERY close to heavy metal. Take 2112 for example. They started out as Led Zeppelin clones but eventurally found their own sound which was more "progressive" rock. While they were not Black Sabbath or Judas Priest, they certainly had a huge impact on heavy...
