    4E DCC Covers?

It amazes me that people are getting in a huff over the cover of an adventure module(s). Pretty pathetic. I hope the guy who called it a "slap in the face" is 12 years old, then he might have an excuse.

Pathfinder 1E Lisa Stevens, CEO of Paizo, commenting about ENWorld

No, posting in a "woe is me" tone with "don't argue with me" is like waving a lamb chop at a pack of wolves.

Pathfinder 1E Lisa Stevens, CEO of Paizo, commenting about ENWorld

I don't think there was anything ENWorld could have done to prevent a serious drop in 3e sales once 4e was announced. Once word of a new version of any product gets around, almost everybody goes into a wait-and-see mode, so a dropoff in sales is to be expected.

Pathfinder 1E Lisa Stevens, CEO of Paizo, commenting about ENWorld

Again, as was pointed out several times in the thread, posting criticism in such a manner, on a discussion forum, and then basically telling people not to respond unless they agree, is ludicrous.

Pathfinder 1E Lisa Stevens, CEO of Paizo, commenting about ENWorld

I think that Celtavian brought it on himself a little bit, with the melodramatic tone of his post. From the title of the post to him telling people not to argue with him, that's just flamebait plain and simple. If you want to reduce edition war threads, you've got to put a stop to flamebait as...

    Farewell to thee D&D

My group plays online (one player is 200 miles away and another 5000 miles away), but the one time we were able to play together in person, we just used laptops and played LAN party style. B-) I for one will never again bother with tracking situational modifiers, buffs, debuffs, etc. when my VTT...

DM's: How much cheating do you have to do?

I haven't fudged a roll since 1st or 2nd level in my current campaign (3.5). I used to fudge a bit in my old 1e campaign, but back then monsters seemed to be much more lethal. It's not like 3.5 doesn't have risk though, the Cleric was one-shotted by a Digester. Other than that, the Ranger and...

    Farewell to thee D&D

Exactly. By posting on a forum you are, by definition, inviting discussion and yes, even argument. If you don't want that, start a blog. Now, wrto the OP, back when my 1e group stopped playing, I got a chance to play with another group, who switched to 2e. I did not like a lot of things about...

What "Official" WotC D&D products do you use?

    Who Do You Game With?

I can't check all that apply. It's not a multiple-choice poll. I game with family and friends.

    Playing the Game Online

My group uses Klooge Werks. We're running a 3.5 game, but Klooge supports 4th edition too. Klooge takes care of a lot of the math for you, so for instance when you cast a damage spell like Burning Hands, it will calculate damage, roll the Reflex saves for the targets, and apply damage all in one...

Pathfinder 1E D&D4 and Pathfinder can coexist

I couldn't agree more. Maybe we need a Rants forum where people can vent. :p

    Underwater combat

That makes sense... rereading the Swim skill description, I notice it says pretty much the same thing. Thanks!

    Underwater combat

The underwater combat table on page 92 of the DMG lists modifiers for attack/damage, movement, etc. Now, according to this table, if you make your Swim check, your movement is half with a full-round action and quarter with a move action, but there is an entry at the bottom labeled "None of the...

    Game Prep...

Since my group plays over the internet, everything ends up in electronic format eventually anyway. So I use Klooge.Werks for my virtual tabletop, Dundjinni for mapping and OpenOffice Writer to type up notes. The only time I use pencil and paper is when I'm someplace where I don't have access to...

    3rd printing of core books?

Back in 2001, print runs of the core books were at least 100,000: http://www.seankreynolds.com/rpgfiles/rants/rpgsaretooexpensive.html

What is your second edition experience (no edition war!!!)

Started with Basic, moved to AD&D 1e, then to 2e, took a long break, then picked up 3.5 which I have been playing ever since. Might move on to 4e eventually, but for now my group is sticking with 3.5.

What room do you game in?

Master bedroom (well, the only bedroom in my 1-bedroom apartment). My group games online using kLoOge.Werks and Teamspeak. What rooms the others are in, I couldn't tell you. :p
