    The strangely brightening comet

I've seen it in the mornings a few times late this week. Brighter than Jupiter gets. I figured it was Jupiter, in fact. Not close enough to sunrise to be Venus. Glad to know what it is. Thanks.

What is your favorite winter comfort food?

Chicken Pot Pie. Got a recipe recently for some awesome home made lil' bricks of love. Makes six 6"x3"x4" or so yummy, crusty fresh from the freezer pot pies. Just need to anticipate being hungry about a hour and a half in advance as they take quite a while to cook. But worth it.

I also can't think of a reason as to why you couldn't. Sounds cool, too!

    Longspear of the Minor Invoker

I don't think #3 adds any extra cost to the item. Especially if you wish it to be a specific 'restricted' slot(s) for 1st level spells only. So, 2155gp for the weapon and 1500 (or 750 at 50%. Just remember to cost full for the first 1st level spell, 75% for the second and 50% for the third)...

Input? It's your thing, baby! I just to help by giving you something to work off of. If I have it right in the first place.

Pretty sweet little item. Nice job.

I need help pricing these possibly unbalancing boots

    p. 285 DMG. Use-activated or Continuous spell effect formula is spell level x caster level x 2,000 gp. Prices are modified by spell's duration. Base prices: Expeditious Retreat. 1 x 1 x 2,000 x 2 (duration modifier) = 4,000gp + Levitate. 2 x 3 (Wiz) x 2,000 x 2 = 24,000 +...

    Longspear of the Minor Invoker

Love #1, #2 and #4 (Evocation spells I presume). Don't get #3, though. They don't last long enough to be useful. Magic Weapons are 2,000+Masterwork component+weapon cost. Something like 2,155 in this case. Figure out the cost of making a Light Staff and add the spell cost to it. (375gp x...

ry's Threats, Rewards, Assets, and Problems (TRAPs)

YAHOO! Congrats! I'll see what I can do and submit it to you soon enough for your perusal of my understanding of the process. See what you think, if we're on the same page and all. Have fun!

Sweet. Any ideas on how you're going to finalize things yet?

"...you all meet at an inn.."

I haven't tried the academy one. Perfect for the right group. Mission packets would work well for an inexperienced group especially. I had a group put together 15-16 yr old 1st level Rogues all part of the same gang and they knew their first mission would be to break and enter to make off...

    Why have you dropped campaigns?

When the players and the DM don't see eye to eye anymore. It becomes not fun... so, done.

    Portable Hole

I've always wanted a Leomund's Tiny Hut item that I could pack up in the morning and sleep in at night. Move my non-magical stuff in there and find it where I left it. Portable Hole with air could be quite dangerous. Don't give your DM too much....

"...you all meet at an inn.."

I've done that sort of thing too. Samurai from the same clan, rogues in the same gang, Paladins, Monks and Clerics from the same deity/order, etc. They've worked out generally. I like the character creation session idea. Helps create context too. Hmm.

"...you all meet at an inn.."

I've found that experienced players just fall in line but I've always wondered why characters do what they do without the knowledge of who is a PC and who is not. Inexperienced players need a nudge sometimes to take action so I tend towards the heavy handed with that. Maybe I worry overmuch...

"...you all meet at an inn.."

How do you bring your PCs together for the first time? Do you gloss over it or do you try to work some sort of similar motivation thing for them? Why? Glossing over, I guess, is for simplicity's sake to get into the action right away. If you do try to incorporate a back story or two, do...

    Strongholds?

I've learned that the players should get what they want. If realistic, drafty, crumbly if inherited, still settling if new, expensive and vulnerable strongholds are what they want, then don't burn down every inn they stay at overnight. If it bores you, the make them do the homework on it...

    A gnoll tribe (EL 10)

Are they wanderers or do they have a hole? What is the leader's motivations? Any young or slaves? Is this an ambush party and if so, what is the larger group like? Set the scene.
