What's your take on the Leadership feat?

I agree with consensus. That said, I think there is a place for it in the game, I just don't think it should be a Feat slot. Rather, I think it should be a function of founding a keep, building an organization, captaining a pirate ship and so on, similar to how calling for followers worked in...

Help Understanding Movement Tricks - Complete Scoundrel

Yes, but I think he's saying if you normally move 30' and you move 20' and jump 20', instead of remaining in mid-jump Extreme Leap would give you the 10' of extra movement you need to land. If you moved 25' and jumped 20', Extreme Leap would give you an extra 10' of jump, but you'd still be in...

    elves:flawed logic

You make an excellent point. Although elves tend to be associated with Cooshee and Blink Dogs more than regular dogs. This does remind me of an old elf character of mine who would occasionally explain elven culture to his party using descriptions that could easily apply to cats, such as "We're...

Anyone still confused on Improved Grab and Constrict?

My problem with grappling, as well as most of the combat maneuvers in general, is that I feel they are too complicated by half. Instead of having a half dozen slightly different and fidgety mechanics that have to be constantly referenced, I would prefer a more intuitive system that comes down...

Evil to Twisted in a good party?

There is balance to the situation and it doesn't have to be an all-or-nothing decision, unless you want it to be. An evil character can still have loyalty and feel human emotions (even if they resent it a little). One of my favorite characters (stretching back into 2e) was a CE priest who...

Tell me about the terrain accessories...

This site is the one that got me interested in building wargame terrain, Terragenesis. It's possible to build great terrain inexpensively. Most of my stuff is made out of popcicle sticks, glue, craft paint and scrounged materials. This was the first project I ever tried, and I made enough...

    Command Undead vs. Turning

If you consider the Command Undead to function essentially the same as a Rebuke attempt by a cleric of the appropriate level, you could make the case for it overriding the Turn, in much the same way as if a good cleric and an evil cleric Turned and Rebuked and undead back and forth between them...

Need an Incantation to summon Dagon

Here's some Incantations from a New Age site. Some are too lovey-dovey for your purposes, but they give you something to work with. Also, remember to never summon anything bigger than your head.

    Underwater Shipwreck

If you're going with the idea of stacked wrecks, make the bottom one an aquatic update of "Expedition to the Barrier Peaks".

    Getting into the Underdark

Used to be, if you wanted to get into the Hollow World, you had to go through a hole at the north pole.

Cast a Personal Spell on another Creature?

That's a little... murky, although I haven't really rigorously researched the issue. (I haven't found anything in the books, but I haven't looked through the FAQs.) I recently ran a game with a NPC dread necromancer and his intelligent undead servants, where the DN was Magic Jarring around the...

    Underwater Shipwreck

This might just be my issues at work (I am pathologically afraid of animatronic sharks), but I like the idea of a giant, in-no-way-appropriate CR shark (advanced dire shark, megladon, dire megladon, legendary shark, legendary dire megladon, and so on) out there gliding silently in the crushing...

Cast a Personal Spell on another Creature?

It's possible that you might be able to pull it off with the use of the Magic Jar spell. I guess that's open to interpretation, but to quote the leader of the Neutral Planet, all I know is my gut says maybe.

    Who was right

All I know is if I had a +5 Shield and someone made a Sunder attempt against it, I'd most likely throw it as far as I could behind me and then dive tackle them. (Sunder in a grapple, chiba!) It's D&D, and killing people is expected, but Sunder is just mean.

You can also, when he tumbles past, clothesline him and say, "Sorry, you provoked."

    Ideas for a too-multiclassed character

I played a Ranger/Rogue/Sorcerer in my friend's pirate game, and even though I knew it was a multiclass trainwreck going into it, it actually turned out okay for me. I went Ranger 3/Rogue 3/Sorcerer 1, though, and the sorcerer levels were just for Mage Armor, the occasional Shield, and Disguise...

A mean way to lure your PCs to adventure

Well, aside from the fact I think a zombie ghost would be AWESOME, this reminds me of a disturbed tomb and the risen undead army who's chant was, if memory serves, Wight Power! (There were also a number of wight werewolves who would seem to meet the criteria of being both wights and wolves.)

    Underwater Shipwreck

I think the biggest change in an underwater combat would be the 3d movement. Movement is probably reduced for the non-aquatics, but otherwise it's like everyone has perfect flight. (Imagine getting flanked by 6 sahaguin barons each with 4 attacks and some rogue levels. I guess that's pretty...

Tumble at 1/2 speed - why?

This question actually came up last week. My answer was, "You ever see someone running a 100-yard dash cartwheel the last 20 feet?"
