    Favourite Fantasy Settings

Besides my homebrew world, I would vote for Eberron and the Realms. Eberron is a perfect combination of modern fantasy flavor mixed in with traditional DnD. The Realms are a very in-depth and detailed traditional fantasy setting, with something for practicaly everyone. That said, while I...

    Gamer Levels

I'm around a 10 on a normal basis, but I haven't DM'd a campaign for almost 6 months, a Deadlands HOE campaign that was suppossed to last a year and take them through Unity, but managed only a few months before I accidently TPK'd my friends. I'm really starting to feel the itch to run, and...

    Warlock basics

Just about everything they do for Warlocks in Dragon is top notch, including this article. Good advice (nice chart), 'locks getting their d8 feat, not overlooking the Tiefling mechanical problem, and some flavor feats. I approve.

    General consensus on expertise feats

When I build my super-optimized characters, Expertise is always picked by at least 6th level, usually I just choose it first and get it over with. For instance, the 7th level ranger I built to play test a delve took these: 1. WE: Heavy Blades 2. WF: Heavy Blades 4. EWP: Bastard Sword 6. The...

    MP2: Cunning Sneak/Stealth questions

Please note that I do not own MP2 yet, as the weather has been terrible in Ohio. So, this is solely based off your description of the powers. The way you describe the power, I would rule that it provides a kind of hiding in plain sight advantage. So, in this case, you shift the number of...

Class Idol FINAL Round: The Ultimate Battle

While I'm sad the Warlord is going to lose, at least he lost to the other class 4E did right, the Fighter.

Does the swordmage marking power suck?

The Swordmages Aegis of Shielding is my favorite mark. It just screams "I'm a defender, hear me roar!"

    Underdark. Woah.

I liked it. I still think MoTP has the best fluff provided yet for core products. That said, I don't mind having a few delves in a book, mainly because I have no artistic ability and can scavage up interesting maps to trace and reuse.

Which character sounds the most fun

I always viewed Avengers, given the fact that by fluff they are divinely sanctioned killers, as a little off anyways. I say play the Avenger, but the Changeling would be fun as well. The middle choice I like the flavor, but not the build (just my personal preference).

What Do You Do When You're Dead?

When a PC dies, which depending on campaign style and who's running it in my group happens more frequently, there are usually a few different solutions. 1.) The player begins to work on his or her new character while paying half-attention to the battle (and chucking in one-liners). 2.) The...

Class Idol Round 7: Only Three Remain!

Unjustly felled in the first poll, all hail the mighty Warlord.

Favourite OoP boardgames that you have managed to keep, reacquire or looking for.

Heroquest with the Elf, Barbarian, Red Box, and Purple box expansions. Any time we're between games for a week or have players MIA, I try to convince my friends to play it with me.

Miniless combat - share your approach here

Full disclosure before I start: I prefer minis in almost any game I play (Vampire really being the one exception), and used them back when I first started playing my first RPG game, before I even knew about minis (we used dice). Now, on with my play experience. I played a 4E game via Skype...

Looking for the best WotC (D&D) novels from the last 15 years.

If you like Eberron at all, I highly recommend Keith Baker's works. They are fun reads that really help illuminate the setting.

Are people still mad about . . .

I miss getting Dragon in the mail once a month. Even though I subscribe to DDI, I hardly read the articles. I keep the DDI mainly for the fantastic other stuff it does. I'm sad FR was so drastically changed. I understand why they did it, but I'm not sure it was worth it. I'm sad we...

Why DON'T people like guns in D&D?

I'd say you gave voice to my personal disliking of guns in the fantasy genre. Well put.

    Skirmishing Warlord

Paint the bullseye is pretty sweet. Sad that it's ranged attack only. I assume Inspiring Shot is a daily, not an encounter. 3W, reliable, bonus to healing. Not terrible. Interesting option.

Class Idol Round 4: Elite Eight

Pleased to see the Warlord doing so well in the "Most loved" poll after being dumped so callously during the "Least loved" polls.

How Can You Politely Say, "Your Character Sucks?"

This. I have starter classes* that I start people new to 4E off with, where they can make mistakes and be ok as they learn the system. Assault Swordmages are about as far away from a starter class as I can imagine. By placing a 14 in his Int, the character is much weaker in multiple areas...

Class Idol round 3: Top Ten

Warlords are still my favorite class.
