Which hardcovers do you own/plan to own?

Everything but the Dungeon Delve, AV 2, DDI stuff (since I'm an Insider), Against the Giants, and Player's Strategy Guide I either own or plan on owning.

    The Essentials articles are atrocious.

Ah, see, on the other hand, I do believe and am pretty convinced that having at least equal Int and Str is the way to go (for tact lords). Even in your stats, I would have 16 str and 16 int (assuming I played a human or eladrin, let alone a genasi). I can patch the +hit issue with feats...

    The Essentials articles are atrocious.

Sure strike isn't much maligned. It isn't maligned enough. It is the worst at will Wizards has presented thus far. I can't imagine ever using it over a basic melee attack, let alone any of the other at wills. It is literally, that terrible of a power. I don't like the essential articles...

    What 4e does right

I'm not adding anything new, but here are my favorites: 1.) No dedicated healers needed. Sure, it helps to have a leader, but he doesn't have to spend all his actions healing the group. 2.) DM Prep is so much easier than 3.X. 3.) No wands of healing needed to help lengthen the adventuring...

    Problem players and you

Now that it is clear the character is purely selfish and seemingly unwilling to work with the party(I hesitate to say player), next time he pulls something like that I'd go ahead and have a pre-made full five man party encounter set aside and ready for him. That character should then cease to...

    Build Me: A Half-orc fighter/defender

Here's a quick Tempest Fighter multiclassed into Ranger for perception training. I choose a Khopesh as an axe-sword hybrid, and shortsword for off-hand for Rain of Blows, but you could actually use any other one hand weapon as an offhand weapon thanks to Two-Blade Warrior. ====== Created Using...

    Wherefore "mini-less" D&D assumptions?

I'm currently playing a 4E game by Skype without minis (at least until we can convince the DM to learn maptools). You can do it fine, but you lose a bunch of options and often times placement in a battle is muddled, to say the least.

4E Class Survivor Round 17 - The Fighter is the Sole Survivor!

The fighter is the best designed class in 4E, IMHO.

    Do you Use Miniatures?

Anytime we play DnD, the answer is yes we use minis. Games like Gurps, Deadlands, CoC, the World of Darkness settings, and Star Wars d6 we tend to avoid maps, but have broken them out if needed.

    Tactical Warlord Build INT discussion

If you're human, 16 Str and 18 Int is my preferred combo for Taclords. 16 Str and a +3 weapon is good enough to land your gamebreakers (Lead the Attack, Warlord's Favor) and the +4 bonus to damage to your biggest basic melee swinger is great as well when you fall back to your at-will of choice...

    Which feats are "taxes"?

There is no distinction between the two. If a feat is so good that everyone takes it, it qualifies as a feat tax.

    Musing of an Epic Virgin

He did houserule a 50% damage increase, so the players probably needed the extra healing (and he did note that resurrections increased as a result).
  13. Mr. Wilson

    Which feats are "taxes"?

QFE. I just houserule each PC gets the Expertise feat of their choice at 1st level and move on.

4E Class Survivor - Round 16 (We have the final 3!)

The martial classes are much more interesting than the wizard.

Looking for ideas for "environment" sounds.

My girlfriend has trouble sleeping occasionaly and uses this series to help get her to sleep. Each CD is an hour long: Bjorn Lynne's Nature Sound Series: Relaxing nature soundscapes with ambient music I can only vouch for the rain CD, the mountain stream CD, and the ocean surf CD, but they...

Boxed Text - A Railrod Sign, or Great tool for Immersion? Both?

I try to avoid box texts in general, but I have used them on occassion. If I'm running a module, when I first started, I read the whole thing. Turns out most players just drown that out. Now, if there is boxed text, I just paraphrase what it says while maintaining eye contact. That said, on...

4E Class Survivor - Round 15 (To determine the final 3)

Wizard needs to go away so my predictions from a few rounds ago are accurate. That and the Sorc. is way more fun than the wizard.

How many from your group(s) use ENW?

AFAIK, of the two groups I'm in currently, I'm the only poster on EnWorld. They know I post here, but they aren't message board users, for the most part.

Who Should Acquisitions, Inc Recruit Next?

Probably a striker of some sort. They need the damage. I'd say either a new class or a rogue (or at least someone trained in Thievery). They could use the help with traps.
  20. Mr. Wilson

So why are you at ENWorld?

I come to EnWorld for good discussion and interesting topics. I go to the Wizards boards for CharOp and Hellcow's postings.
