    Dopey things DM's have done.

As DM, I once read 2-12 points of damage (on a wolfwere's stat block) as 2d12. Predictable results ensued. :)

    Help, my players are scared!

I've gotta say...if the party has a Priest of War in it, and a "great warrior", then they're quite wimpy if they're fleeing from combat (or at least these two are). Have the god censure the priest (the head priest, no less! How blasphemous!) and have the townsfolk jeer at the warrior for being a...

    D&D Throughout History

Hmph. Now I have to go support the South. *shudders* 1922 - General Secretary Josef Stalin begins playtesting new system, PARANOIA.

    TSR 2e modules?

Mark of Amber was also fun. Lowlevel stuff, but very fun, completely insane, NPCs. The PCs are all in "servant" roles, and so they have to interact with people normally their equals as their bosses.

    Unique D20 weapon system!

The fact that you used the phrase "laser bullets" scares me. I don't think this would work out well for a sword/blaster combo. Consider that the grips for the two weapons are fundamentally different. You're going to have much finer control over the gun's aim than the sword's, and you won't be...

    Dungeon on CD?

Wow, I'm glad I picked up my copy of the Dragon mags when I did! AviLazar, the Dragon compilation I have DOES have a search tool like the one you describe. It's not particularly good, but it's there, and usable.

What traits would your Ultimate Space Opera setting have?

I'm agreeing with most of the things here, but what I want to see in a space opera game is politicking. Multiple factions, with both human and nonhuman components. Oh, and lotsa stellar empires.

I guess I'm a REAL RBDM now - First TPK

I, too, just had my first TPK, sticking with my first RPG love, AD&D 2e. The Fists of Light were wiped out by one of their own, the fallen barbarian warrior Brun (NPCized). Changed into a skeletal warrior, he killed off the paladin (who had turned to evil and pulled an Arthas), the elf thief...

    How to speak Orcish.

Wormwood, how could you? You left out Skroodle and Zugzug! ZUGZUG, MAN!!! HOW COULD YOU?!? ...Orgrim Doomhammer thirsts for your soul now. :p

    Has D&D jumped the shark?

In response to Zero's argument, I'm not entirely sure that a game will stagnate without new rules. It's still possible to create generic-setting adventures and supplements, GMing guides, NPC sheafs, and other such things. These don't require issuing new rules. Edit: added quote to clarify what...

    Real zombies with malaria?!?

The spaghetti harvest? I've got to see that someday...heard so much about it... However, the article at hand is obviously incorrect. Everyone knows that zombies are produced by the virus SOLANUM. Jeez. Didn't you people read the Zombie Survival Guide?

Making "Keep on the Borderlands" Plausible

Response to spoilers above: Wait...how was it designed for Mystara? I have the module, but I didn't see any Mystaran references in there, except for one of the NPC mages being named d'Ambreville.

Just Curious ... Hom many come from AD&D?

AD&D 2e, back in '97 or so I suppose. Still sticking with it (and not switching!), but also considering running older stuff (like OD&D, or maybe a dungeon crawl using 1e rules).

    Puzzle/Riddle based modules?

There was a really nifty adventure in an old DUNGEON which centered around a keep which had shifting internal rooms. Sorta like those little puzzle games you had as a kid where you had to shift all the pieces back into the happyface, but you only had one movement slot...

What do you do if your DM gets sick...

Cmanos, you realize the guy was joking, right? A very unfunny joke, but a joke.

How much concern do you have with PC death?

I used to fudge dice to keep PCs alive, even when they didn't deserve it. Now? "Exterminate all the brutes!" or whatever that quote from Heart of Darkness was.

    WotC -- Worst Excerpt EVAR!

Just wondering - if the illithid they're legacizing is supposed to be unique, and has a unique history of its own, why is it listed as possibly appearing in a group with its own cult? Rumors that this post was made for the purpose of testing out "Allandaros of Legacy" are completely treasonous.

    WotC Stores?

I, for one, just found it simpler to go to my FLGS. They had everything the WotC store had - and more, so I didn't have to shop around other stores trying to get swag from multiple areas. Oh, and it was more fun to watch the Warhammer games at the FLGS.

    My recent loot

I don't suppose you can get your FLGS to wander down to Maryland, can you?

    Alignment, clerics, and support

Those who consider Law/Chaos not much of a conflict should take a look at M. Moorcock's Elric saga - which probably contributed the entire Law/Chaos axis to D&D.
