D&D Encounters: March of the Phantom Brigade

Officially, the answer is no, you can't.

D&D Encounters: March of the Phantom Brigade

I just think it's a smart move to make the sample characters for Encounters be the same characters that are found in the Essentials books. It helps first timers pick up an Essentials book and say, "Hey, this guy is at the table with me. And so is this one. And here I am." Tying a character sheet...

    I Want More Nentir Vale!

Sounds like you're asking for a Nentir Vale, oh what's the word, right, a Nentir Vale ... gazetteer. Sounds good to me.

Running "Intro to D&D" at Library --Suggestions?

The game was this past Saturday (22 Jan). The library predicted around 40 people (based on their showing at an anime event they recently ran) and the game store owner predicted 10 people. Reality split the difference with 21 people in attendance. Most were 12-14, with a few older kids...

Fortune Cards, we just received a preview

I think it will be very interesting to see what WotC announces at DDXP with regard to new organized play options and Fortune Cards. My fear is that they will announce a competitive game play option that will include the use of Fortune Cards. For that, the cards would have to be universally...

Running "Intro to D&D" at Library --Suggestions?

My FLGS owner has somehow persuaded the local public library to host a "D&D 101 for Teens" session. It is a 3 hour educational "class" held in the library to teach kids 12-18 (US grades 6-12) about D&D. The web link is here . The basic idea is to start with about a 30 minute class introducing...

    Class Compendium: Gone?

This year, Wizards of the Coast decided to lay off products, instead of employees. It's an exciting change to their usual seasonal activities. Actually, my bet is that this content is still coming, but is now pulled into a digital only form. We can only guess what that will be. On the bright...

    2-player D&D?

I played in a 1 DM 1 Player game for about 2 years. It was a lot of fun. There is a good site talking about RPG "Duets", games with two players, here at the Blue Moon Aurora blog. It might give you some ideas. Good Luck.

    Cancellation of Heroscape

This is surprising. I really thought that they'd cancel DDM and move everything into Heroscape. That seemed to be the direction with the latest D&D Heroscape sets. I wonder what impact this will have on DDM? I don't remember if they've announced anything after Lords of Madness or not.

Finger Cut Off - How to get back ?

Wizards of the Coast actually has released specific rules about regrowing fingers. The rules are on-line only and not in any printed book. It's part of their ever growing "digit"-al initiative. * rim shot *

Finger Cut Off - How to get back ?

Jump in Feet First My character once lost both his feet in an unfortunate "run-in" with carnivorous sand. I had to go to my mysterious employer, who sent me to a powerful but little know healer. The healer was able to regrow them, but I then had to get him a magic item that he could use as the...

Essentials Rules Compendium preview copy in hand

Looking at the Rules Compendium, could this book be used for any 4th Edition genre? For example, is the content clearly tied to D&D fantasy, or could it be used for Gamma World? Or a western setting (a la Boot Hill) or a space setting (Star Frontiers) or ...? I'm just curious if they tried to...

would Essentials as a Kindle book be a good idea?

Amazon has a button for each book that says "Tell the Publisher I'd Like to Read This on Kindle". I have for most D&D titles. At GenCon, I believe they said they'd have something to announce about e-books "really soon now." I suspect it will be something like this, for the reasons you mention.

New Neverwinter Nights Game Probably On Its Way

Yes, Virginia, There is a Cleric Two quick points. First, in the interview, the 5 classes are identified as: Fighter, Wizard, Ranger, Rogue, and ... Cleric. The splashscreen shows the five, with the human[?] female cleric being on the left, identifiable as holding a mace, followed to her left...

    Where to get individual minis

Not a store, but an excellent resource for learning about minis prices is abprices.com. They cover Star Wars and D&D Minis (as well as many other lines) and give prices from a handful of sources on individual minis. It's a good way to see if a price from a dealer or Ebay-er is in the ballpark or...

Timing of Preserving Invoker Covenant Power

Here are some straightforward questions for you experts. I've been struggling with the specifics of the Invoker Covenant of Preservation covenant manifestation: Can I slide the ally before the attack, after the attack, or either? If, for example, the ally is in the burst radius of the attack...

    Changes to Living Forgotten Realms

If there's already a thread about this somewhat old news, please post a reference to it. As was noted in the thread about "brand revitalization" for Magic and D&D, WotC has recently announced changes to Living Forgotten Realms. The LFR community lead, Skerrit, posted this blog entry which...

    Hasbro quote on MtG

I don't want to derail this thread, and Merric can speak for himself, but I suspect his comment was in reference to this post, also discussed in this 20+ page thread over at Wizards. To summarize, LFR has been run and supported by WotC. Now it is shifting more to a "community driven" effort...
