That "17" is actually 11 utility and Daily spells and constant at-wills and no knowing how many encounter powers you can fit into an adventuring day. Not to mention the rituals you can do. I'd say all told it's a lot more than just "17 spells".

I'm buying the core 4E to mine for ideas. I'm sticking with 3.5 as the base rules for my games. I've got just too much invested in 3.X, much of it yet to be used, to just dump it. (I'll also get Pathfinder for the same mining opportunities).

Same for me. Base of 3.5 and then mine Pathfinder and 4E for the best ideas. Then mix in large dollops of BoXM 1&2.
