D&D 5E (2014) Rarity of Healing for the Common Man in the 5e Implied Setting

When we're talking about curing diseases and poisons, that's one thing. But let's remember that in 5e, Cure Wounds has the same effect as a nonmagical good night's rest. (Which is to say, by default hit points are NOT meat.) Now, curing diseases and poisons may indeed have a big impact on...

How could the Tarrasque still possibly be alive?

I think even in FR it's pretty freaking difficult to get enough high-level characters together to take on a cr30 threat. Also, can't the tarrasque burrow underground if it's getting pelted from the air or something?

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlock/Cleric Best of all Worlds

Not necessarily. A fey warlock who is also an Oath of the Ancients paladin makes perfect sense, and a "render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's" mentality goes a long way with multiclass clerics. ("My soul belongs to Corellon, but my blade is yours, my lady.") You just need a god and patron who...

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlock/Cleric Best of all Worlds

I've considered the same combo. I wonder what you'd lose by just taking a couple levels of cleric (maybe only one)? That gives you per-encounter, scaling heal spells, but they scale much faster through mid-levels and then you start to get more of them. Plus you do get high-level spells. Paladin...

    D&D 5E (2014) Druid wildshape...

That's right! You can use wild shape to soak up damage; the tradeoff is that you can't do that much else in animal form.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition -- Help Me Break the Game!

Or you could take 2 levels of fighter for awesome action surge, or 3 for battle master maneuvers or expanded crit, or 4 for a feat, or 11 for a third attack... ;) Basically, the actually seem to have approached what 3e never could: you can progress your character based on your idea for the...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition -- Help Me Break the Game!

It has to be based on class level, just like elemental monk powers, or else multiclassing is ridiculously messed up.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E Challenge Ratings

Sounds like CR is quite useful here. Without it I'd assume that green dragon could challenge a level 16 party, when it clearly can't.

    D&D 5E (2014) Blade Pact Question

I'd probably take a sixth level of warlock over a fourth of fighter. All three pacts have awesome level 6 benefits, and I'd take Dark One's Own Luck and an extra spell known over the greatweapon feat. I'd also consider Fiendish Vigor over Agonizing Blast.

    D&D 5E (2014) Blade Pact Question

Fighter was certainly my first thought. It even makes sense, as the guy who can be seduced by the promise of a magical weapon is probably a guy who's trained a bit in using weapons. Second thought: play a mountain dwarf, since you'll benefit a lot from all the stat bonuses and from the armor...

    D&D 5E (2014) Bracers of Defense

The barbarian or monk isn't even as annoying as the dragon sorcerer, who can have 16+dex AC without worrying about secondary stats or feats or additional equipment.

    D&D 5E (2014) Bracers of Defense

    1. No, really, it's more powerful than studded leather because it stacks with monk or barbarian or sorcerer armor bonuses, as you already know. 2. This proves my point exactly. The fighter compromised his damage to get better AC by carrying a one-hander and a shield instead of a greatsword, and...

    D&D 5E (2014) So...warlocks?

That sounds ideal. But I can certainly envision some ticking-bomb scenarios where an hour rest might never be practical, or conversely a wilderness-exploration campaign where there is little realistic reason why the party wouldn't rest for an hour after every combat. Turning the dial on short...

    D&D 5E (2014) So...warlocks?

A hard limit would help prevent cheesiness (fighter demanding a short rest every time you kill a lone goblin so he can always use his Action Surge). Since it's still a big deal to have to set up camp for a long rest, if there's a limit like 2 or 3 short rests max between long rests...

    D&D 5E (2014) So...warlocks?

Simple answer: if the DM isn't giving the group opportunities for an hour rest due to pacing or realism considerations, but feels they would benefit group balance mechanically, just cut a short rest down to ten minutes.

    D&D 5E (2014) So...warlocks?

It's not obvious at first glance, but basically the warlock can choose invocations that pump his melee or his eldritch blast damage and effectiveness high enough that he can keep up with the at-will damage of classes like the fighter, and his spells and other invocations then provide the extra...

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

The thing is, profits from a splatbook are peanuts to a corporation like Hasbro. In theory, they shouldn't mind making less money on book sales if they think they can make up for it by growing the value of the iP Anne thus making more money off movie rights, toys, etc.

D&D 5E (2014) 5e niggles:- Multiclassing Spellcasters; Dragonborn Sorcerers; Tavern Brawler; Warlocks

Oh, there are definitely other cool ways to go with the warlock; I only meant "screwed" in terms of keeping up on at-will damage output. And hey, there's nothing saying you can't take misty visions AND agonizing blast!

D&D 5E (2014) 5e niggles:- Multiclassing Spellcasters; Dragonborn Sorcerers; Tavern Brawler; Warlocks

Okay, a few issues: 1. All three of the pacts, in themselves, do little to boost your combat effectiveness most of the time. It's when you combine them with the pact-specific invocations that they become powerful. 2. My reading of Agonizing Blast is that you add damage to each blast. (That...
