Nothing about the art suggested those are Warforged though. They could just as easily be a Battle Smiths Steel Defender or even an Artillerists Cannons.

We know it’s is Warforged, Shifter, Changling, Kalashtar, and Khoravar already. The “Players Option” preview page they shared on the preorder link says it’s those 5.

Well yes and no. The back of this ship clearly has the elemental ring that is symbolic of the dragonmarked houses ships.

When was the last time WotC announced a book for D&D and then had to push it back that far? I can’t thinking of a time for 5e where that has been the case.

The time between this UA and the October book is the same as the Eberron UAs and Forge. So it very well could be this year still.

Nothing obvious about it honestly. It might be an Undead focused book, but it’s just as likely to be a Ravenloft companion book.

If it didn’t get revived with the Forgotten Realms UA, it isn’t making it in a setting-agnostic splat book, I’m afraid.

There’s still a lot of subclasses to be reprinted. Barbarian - Wild Magic, Beast, Storm Herald, Giant, Ancestral Guardian Bard - Swords, Whisper, Creation, Eloquence Cleric - Forge, Peace, Twilight, Order, Tempest, Nature, Arcana Druid - Wildfire, Spores, Shepard, Dreams Fighter - Arcane...

Ranger doesn’t need salvaging. It plays fine at the table now, especially at early tiers.

I’m confident they will do a Tasha’s Xanathar’s combo book. I think these UA drops are for setting books, and I think it’s to clear some of the deck to make room for the Everything Book. I assume they want the “Core and Expanded” books (aka the setting agnostic player options) to have even...

I like Spore and Necromancer are probably being saved for a more generic book like the Tasha’s and Xan revamp book. They likely didn’t want to “lock” these behind a setting book (since that seems like this is going to be that).

Main difference is probably the amount of actually “new” options here. People liked the Grave, Spirits, Undead, Hexblade, and Phantom enough already so those are just updating. So maybe they feel like 2 new subclasses is easier to test in the shorter time vs the 5 new ones in FR.

My guess is these are either getting small tweaks or cut, and the October surprise is Ravenloft getting a player focused book like Eberron is with Forge.

I wish I was going to PAX now to get a look at this adventure. I hope someone there shares any changes they notice to the Eberron options.

I think the original teams concerns was more “we don’t want to fundamentally change how a feature works through errata” (like the change from 2014 to Tasha’s for Beast Master) but corrections or math adjustments (which ultimately is what happened here) was definitely on the table.

The article says it being a success is why they feel comfortable leaving. They feel they set the team up for the future and want to move on. No reason to start making rumors up until or unless we hear different reporting.
