[Adventure] A Call for Lovers (DM: jbear Judge:Lord Sessadore)

"Ah, yes, I do remember her showing up, and she fought well. It's good to know where she came from and why she is here." Sabynha responded quietly to Zuri, "Thank you for filling me in." Turning to Rain, she continued, "I believe you are right. Fey politics are... complicated, and we should...

D&D 5E (2014) The new exploration rules, discussion

This addition was kind of a highlight of this packet for me. First impression was that it was basically a standardized exploration Skill Challenge with a different name. After mulling it over and discussing it, I still think that's true, but not necessarily a bad thing. Some of the numbers...

[Adventure] A Call for Lovers (DM: jbear Judge:Lord Sessadore)

"Where do we go now? Is there still time to stop the assassin?" Sabynha comes back to her senses, spurred by the realization that every minute resting is a minute less they have to reach Orlando. She grabs up her own blade from where it fell, and wipes it down. She almost sheathed it, before...

Is the Burning Wheel "how to play" advice useful for D&D?

I'd forgotten about that! I really liked the concept of using a skill challenge within the boss fight to wear him down. I need to use this more often, maybe even consider making it a regular rule, as long as the player(s) actually put some effort into it and not just throw more dice at the problem.

Chris Perkins' final Dungeon Master Experience column

Well, here we are. The last one. This was pretty much the only thing besides Dragon and Dungeon that I even go to the D&D website for these days. I'm going to miss this column. On a positive note, this new campaign sounds like a lot of fun (and certainly makes me more keen on trying Next than...

    D&D 5E (2014) New D&D Next Packet Is Available

I think your conclusion is flawed, and by no means objective truth. ...fail and fail again seems to be the model they're going with.

    D&D 5E (2014) New D&D Next Packet Is Available

No, I think it actually *is* a bad idea, regardless of what edition it first appeared in, I still don't like it. That's fine, assuming I liked what was presented in the first place. I don't, so ...

    D&D 5E (2014) New D&D Next Packet Is Available

Yes, this part (which I just read) I actually liked. Easy enough to import into any game, really.
  9. Nemesis Destiny

    D&D 5E (2014) New D&D Next Packet Is Available

No. For me it isn't about the name. I dislike the idea of making them feats at all. It sucked in 3.x, and it sucks now, IMO.

D&D 5E (2014) Even if you like D&D Next, are you buying it, and how soon?

This is basically where I'm at as well. The poll lacked an option that describes this position however, so I just voted "never".

    D&D 5E (2014) New D&D Next Packet Is Available

    Heh, I lol'd (and concur), but couldn't XP. :)

D&D 4E Looking for 4E card creation software

The links to the "Ander00" MSE2 templates can still be found on ENWorld (Try searching with "site:enworld.org" after your query). The database of pre-entered data is incomplete (only up to PHB2 and Martial Power, IIRC) but if you enter them manually on an as-needed basis, it's not too bad...

    D&D 5E (2014) New D&D Next Packet Is Available

Yeah, this is a terrible design choice, IMO. It's not as easy to excise it either - the "flavour" is baked right in. Bleh. Failadin is more like it. And that monk... ugh. No thanks. I dislike both monks and paladins in general in D&D, but I actually liked their implementation in 4e. Now I'm...

D&D 5E (2014) How Important is it that Warlords be Healers?

That is something I really liked about 4e and the multiclass feats for leader classes - many of them granted you a daily use of their minor action heal power. It was certainly no replacement for a full healer, but it certainly helped out if your party healer went down, or if everyone took such...

[Adventure] A Call for Lovers (DM: jbear Judge:Lord Sessadore)

Yeah, that's the other half of the equation. That's why it won't work with a bow or a crossbow, or shuriken, but because you have a melee weapon that can be used as a heavy thrown in your farbond spellblade, it works. I got this from the CharOp boards and they typically don't post about iffy...

D&D 5E (2014) How Important is it that Warlords be Healers?

I agree, and got him for both of us :)
  17. Nemesis Destiny

[Adventure] A Call for Lovers (DM: jbear Judge:Lord Sessadore)

The key lies in the fact that Intelligent Blademaster just says to use Int for 'Basic Attacks' which includes both MBA and RBA, which means it applies to Rain's thrown daggers as well, in case it ever matters. It's a really slick little combo :D
  18. Nemesis Destiny

[Adventure] A Call for Lovers (DM: jbear Judge:Lord Sessadore)

Technically, because of the wording of both the Farbond weapon and the Intelligent Blademaster feat you have, if you throw it, you use your Int for the attack & damage - it's just like making an MBA now. :)

D&D 5E (2014) D&DN going down the wrong path for everyone.

This is likewise what the PC wizard in my last 3.x campaign found, but they were up against outsiders almost exclusively by the end, so all good saves, and the PC didn't take all the usual optimization on top of that. The player gravitated toward damage spells, and especially 'no save' stuff...
