    D&D 4E Whose staying with 4e?

While I will say that I can't pass final judgment on the game as it stands, I have seen the playtest and what I can say, is that if it continues as-is, it isn't shaping up to support the kind of games I want to run. It might wow me enough, but that will require a great many changes and...

CAPCOM said to be porting D&D Beat'em Ups to PSN and XBox Live Arcade

Yep. Quite a few fun titles that never made the transition from XBLA to PC (Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, Castlevania Harmony of Despair, Final Fight + Magic Sword remix, etc); it's a shame. Not buying an XBOX just for that, though. At least we finally got Castle Crashers!

D&D 5E (2014) How should multiclassing be handled in 5E?

Pretty much this. 3.x multiclassing was a horrid, broken mess, IMO and IME. The further Next stays from that model, the better off it will be. I might be okay with AD&D style multiclassing, if they did it well. And I like the 4e style feat system, but with fewer restrictions and less...

D&D 5E (2014) READ AND REPLY TO THIS 5E WARLORD THREAD, SOLDIER

This is about how I'd feel about this if it were in an upcoming packet.

    D&D 4E Whose staying with 4e?

While not zero-sum in the strictest sense, for many groups and gamers the limiting factor is time; how many games can you play? I can't speak for everyone, obviously, but folks with jobs and lives outside the game are probably the norm, despite what stereotypes would have us believe, and that...

D&D 5E (2014) D&DN going down the wrong path for everyone.

Yeah, until you get Orks and Trolls with Body scores into the teens and dermal plating up the wazoo allocating all dice to defense. *Pow-pow* Dang! Shot him in the combat pool, again!

D&D 5E (2014) D&DN going down the wrong path for everyone.

I would disagree with this statement. I think 4e is incredibly flexible in terms of what you can do with it and bend it into any number of shapes with minimal tweaking. I think that the default tone and advice (mostly DM side) are written in an inflexible manner, and I agree that facet is a...

D&D 5E (2014) D&DN going down the wrong path for everyone.

Maybe if you take it as written, sure, but in practice this is demonstrably untrue. It plays just as well off-grid as every other edition I've played (which is all of them). Some of the wording in the books was... regrettable, and so it leads one to the first impression that it's a bad game...

D&D 5E (2014) D&D Next Q&A: Martial Healing, Fighter Utility, and Ranger Challenges

Their answer to the first question is highly unsurprising, but pretty disappointing for me, personally. Getting used to that with Next. The second has a silver lining in that the wording, if you read between the lines, hints that they will be doing a full Warlord at some point. Though it might...

    D&D 4E Whose staying with 4e?

Well, there's always the offline builder. It still works and there are ways to update it. You can even do it yourself if you know your way around XML.

    AD&D 2nd reprints, covers revealed

I would also have preferred the 89 versions (inside and out). I found the interior of the revised printing to be particularly bad, especially the drawings. I much preferred the blue inklings and the "feel" of the 89 version. I like how they used the "window" to cover up the huge error on the...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D podcast!

Be that as it may, I still prefer the powers + page 42 approach. Obviously not everyone agrees, and that's fine, that's why there are many different games out there.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D podcast!

I want more open mechanics. I see this as a process-first approach, and I dislike that approach for various reasons (that have been stated many times before). I also get why some people want it this way, but I don't have to like it. From this part: Emphasis mine. If these fighter add-ons are...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D podcast!

Nope. The first answer was a really long-winded way of saying, "no scream-heals in Next." On the plus side, it does sound like they do intend to work on both a warlordesque fighter AND an actual warlord. I'm not holding my breath (because it sounds like if they can't find a way to give it...

D&D 5E (2014) D&DN going down the wrong path for everyone.

I don't see how Hasborg assimilating Paizo would really accomplish this. Either they'd end up with Yet Another flavour of a published game that competes with itself, or they'd shut it down, neither of which sound like appealing options. And it's not like everybody is just going to start playing...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D podcast!

This made me lol. Tried to XP, etc. :) Yeah, this is pretty much it. Any trick that works too well (or too often) will get abused, and any trick that doesn't work well enough (or has a low chance of success) will simply never be used in favour of a basic attack that is reliable. See any...

    D&D 5E (2014) L&L 3/11/2013 This Week in D&D

Apparently the guy used to run it out of his house when he was unemployed, but he now has a job and has it "professionally hosted" somewhere, so there's that. You're correct though, he could just pull the plug anytime, and that part sucks; nobody has heard from him in about a year, so who knows...

Houseruled Feat for Tome Wizard - Balance Issue?

It's powerful, but it's your table. I don't think it will break things too badly, unless the player is a real powergamer or munchkin. Other options for allowing this include giving it a cost - perhaps it can only be done after a milestone, or perhaps it costs a healing surge. You could have it...

    D&D 5E (2014) L&L 3/11/2013 This Week in D&D

The place I found it has since gone away, probably C&D'd. I saved the file with the webserver app (nothing shady about that) and the file with the compendium-skimmed data (the shadier part), but the latter would need to be updated. Since you already wrote a script that could handle this, we can...

    D&D 5E (2014) L&L 3/11/2013 This Week in D&D

I thought that the local version of the compendium just set up a local webserver on your machine? Wouldn't apache or similar be able to do this? I didn't think you'd need windows for that. And power2ool is also just a web app...
