    D&D 4E Are humans balanced in 4e?

The new Invoker (only preview level 1-3 available) is another class that becomes decisively more powerful if you choose human. See my build here. While it's true that many combats are short, we've all seen grinding battles that go on forever. With a variety of at-wills at your disposal, those...

D&D 4E How to build encounters in 4e (aka Only you can prevent Grindspace!)

This is all excellent stuff. By the way, it helps if the DM also plays as a PC once in a while, so he gets a different perspective. How would you redesign encounters in Thunderspire then? I'm thinking mostly about the Horned Helm part, where it's one small skirmish after the other. I really...

    Human Invoker, Level 4

True but it's a burst that targets all creatures at least with the damage. It's more like shaking the chess board instead of moving an enemy figure :), and it's against FORT (weak) and deals 1d6 only. It's not really a cool power for what I'd need it for: I let the rogue, fighter etc. delay...

    Human Invoker, Level 4

I had no idea that this is considered an offense. Sorry. which at-wills would you choose then? Edit: I also just found out that Sun Strike is the only at-will in the game that allows to slide a target on a ranged attack. Like a chess player, you can move the enemy where you want them.

    Human Invoker, Level 4

It's mostly because of the goggles that grant a +1 on the attack (and the bracers with +2 on the damage). Important if I really want to hit, and don't forget, it slides a target, and deals 1d8, not 1d6. Also, some powers grant free ranged basic attacks (don't ask me which ones though, haha)

DM's perspective: How to deal with the flaming sphere

I think spells like Flaming Sphere and Stinking Cloud create a sense of despair among the monsters. First of all, it's horrible to be burned, or suffer from the cloud. Second, there is no way to escape it unless the terrain allows you to put the PC's between you and the cloud/sphere whatever...

DM's perspective: How to deal with the flaming sphere

Yeah, but that doesn't solve the problem. I don't want to kill the wizard every encounter (read, focus all attacks on him) just to get rid of those area effects. It would be better to have a way to end the effect, without killing him. Stunning him would work, because without being able to act...

DM's perspective: How to deal with the flaming sphere

I find the flaming sphere to be quite challenging as DM, when my players use it. So far, I've found only three strategies that work: 1) ignore it, and live with the damage 2) move the monsters so PC's are hopefully affected as well when the wizards wants to move the sphere 3) go after the wizard...

    Adventurer's Vault 2 Playtest

Why alive? How about rotting. The stench deals 1d10 ongoing damage (no save).

Dreadnought Paragon Path: You can be killed, but not be stopped.

I think what's overlooked in optimization all the time is: 1) Encounters end. When they end, it doesn't really matter how many hit points you have left. The earlier the encounter ends, the lower the chance of losing hit points, and thus dying. 2) Fun. Hitting more often is more fun than dealing...

Dreadnought Paragon Path: You can be killed, but not be stopped.

It doesn't matter really. The temp HP will most likely be used up for regular damage anyway.

Dreadnought Paragon Path: You can be killed, but not be stopped.

Being able to automatically save as a free action for just 10 HP is making you the only character still marching on while the rest is restrained, blinded, immobilized, whatever. In real game play this is super important, more so than some damage increase or being invincible at level 30. I...

    WotC Character Builder release schedule

It's not really news what I found here but I thought I share it, because there is a lot of speculation and pessimism.

    How should I pronounce Tiefling?

Also funny: Bulette is German for "Meatball".

AV: Double Sword: Light blade And Heavy blade?

Double Weapons balance out the existence of High Crit, brutal weapons like Executioners Axe and Mordenkrad. These weapons are so much more powerful than any light blades, they are otherwise just too tempting for melee classes, even if it means letting go of sneak attack as a MC Rogue for example.

    Battlerager....Overpowered?

Keeping track of Temp HP is already a challenge with my Barbarian. I can't imagine to have to seperate Temp HP's that stack or don't stack on top of it. You can as well not track HP at all and just don't die ever.
