Spycraft 2.0 - is it as difficult as it looks?

Which game? BESM or Feng Shui? Certainly not d20 :) SC2.0 combat is just attacking (we roll for damage at the same time as the attack), if you hit, then opponent makes a damage save with the damage as a penalty and/or marking off those wounds if they survive or are a Special NPC (and thus not...

Spycraft 2.0 - is it as difficult as it looks?

I've run 5 sessions of Spycraft - 3 missions total. During play there hasn't been any delay and it runs just as fast as BESM a little faster than D&D and faster than Feng Shui ran for our group. I agree with Jims 20/80 statement. You use 20% of the rules, 80% of the time. Actually more than...

    True 20 Fantasy

Whats up with that? I'm not sure why more companies arn't taking advantage of the Forms on PDF... thats one of the attractive features of PDFs over print for forms & character sheets and the like. Just making my opinion known: PDF publishers, keep an open mind about the Forms :)

    Grim Tales Magic implementation

In general, what does the Magic Adept Feat do? Does it allow you to cast spells you know without the Con hit? Thats bad news? Sounds like the best news I've heard today. I like it when you're not just shut out, you have options to do things kinda untrained but with penalties/drawbacks. I...

    Grim Tales Magic implementation

Does Grim Tales offer a Magic character as a base class? I loved how d20 modern covered the Ability Score bases, but then that left magic in the cold relagated to using those boring "advanced classes" so we couldn't have any magic beginners

    True 20 Fantasy

It's a bit more suited for fantasy just because they don't have much in the way of weapons/skills for modern. There is an appendix in the rear that covers some new modern magic, how to handle guns, etc. I'm not saying it's not suited for modern, it's just written for Fantasy. The one bitch I...

    True 20 Fantasy

Not much at all. They have a bestiary of creatures in True20 (not a whole lot) and converting from d20 is pretty easy. There is an appendix to help you out. We did some sample conversions, but nothing crazy. It's a lot more rules light than most d20 games and is pretty good for some...

    True 20 Fantasy

Doesn't work for D&D style fantasy, but we did use it for fantasy. The group I played in couldn't stand the damage save, but everyone loved how customizable and easy character creation was. Skills were overly cinematic... basically you knew them at high levels or didn't know them at all. The...

Magical Weapons:30% Light Generation - How often does it come up for you?

IMO, rolling on those charts is optional. In effect, the %'s show how common the magic items are in Greyhawk. Since the Glowing is an option, some settings may be higher or lower depending on the priorities of the mages making the items. If it makes sense or makes for an interesting item...

    Can you charge diagonally?

Yeah I noticed funnystuff about walls and diagnal moves. Walls and pits obstruct, but characters don't from what I read.

    Can you charge diagonally?

My group told me no when I tried. I don't see a reason why not (logically). I assumed I just hadn't seen the rule. I just checked d20SRD.org and I don't see any restrictions about charging diagonally, just a straight uninterupted line without difficult terrain or penalties

    Moving diagonal 'through' enemie's squares

Can you normally charge Diagonally? A & D are occupied, but you never go through A&D. You're going through C & B. Now if you can charge diagonally (which I thought you couldn't by RAW, which I also think is silly) A&D wouldn't stop you. You couldn't charge from C to B because that would only...

M&M2e: No HP!? What were they thinking?

I'm not saying that GR should have it in the core book because it's d20 related or OGL or because they should want to have some conversion compatability to other d20/OGL products. I'm not saying they should appeal to HP because they're basing a game on d20 mechanics and they want to appeal to...

    Armor as Defense and DR

for using them both together simultaniously or seperately?

    Armor as Defense and DR

Wouldn't be much a problem at all... depending on your goal. Do you want it to meld seamlessly into 3.x balance? That might be a little harder. If you don't care about that and want to make armour stronger just add certain DR (against a certain element or type of damage or whatever) on top...

M&M2e: No HP!? What were they thinking?

Look, I like the Damage Save. It's fun. But thats as a player. I don't know how well I'd like it in a non-campy non-lethal game. The chance that PCs could die in a blow would worry me (hero points or no). The group I play with has tried the Damage Save and dislikes it... intensely. I think the...

M&M2e: No HP!? What were they thinking?

Because M&M 1e had the option is the only reason I'd expect it to be there. If for some reason M&M had no HP option in any way, the guys I game with wouldn't play it. They tried damage save and they don't like it.

A d20 System in Forty pages.

Look at Spycraft 2.0 sometime. Charisma is a little more important than Str and about tied with Dex & Con. This is because: A. The game isn't just about combat and there are plenty of non-combat options/feats/abilities which would use Cha. B. Cha bonus influences contacts Wealth & the...

    Moving diagonal 'through' enemie's squares

I think if you don't want people to pass between squares like that, you would have to allow two NPCs in a square, which would most likely result in a penalty to hit/AC as they're not able to be mobile within their area and worse off if their opponent is alone in a square.
