Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

You know that thing where food bloggers tell you a long-winded and pointless story about their grandma’s secret crush on the neighbor? You know how there’s sometimes a skip button to the recipe? I want that in RPGs. Don’t tell me how awesome it’ll be when you finally tell me the rules. Just...

    Spoilers Superman Spoiler Thread

It really is nice seeing someone who actually likes the source material be in charge for a change. The comics might sell better if writers and artists who actually liked the material they were working on, too. I tried watching that when it started. But I noped out after the 3-4 episode in the...

Pirate Borg -- any of you scurvy dogs have it?

Yeah. Even if you don't like the game, Pirate Borg is an essential resource for pirate-themed and seafaring games.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Yes, humans make art. But not in the way most seem to think.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

It seems increasingly true that this covers interacting with most humans as well.

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

This is maybe too long ago or too inside baseball, but I do have a question about the setting, if you don't mind. I'm curious if the events of the Verdant Passage were ever mapped to the in-world calendar. Like the killing of Kalak happened on this specific day, the journey to the halfling...

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

Thank you for the response and the work on Dark Sun. It’s one of my favorite settings TSR ever did.

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

My concern is that WotC will spoil the setting for a new generation of players. They can’t take away the old books and lore, but they can poison the well. Release such a lackluster or mediocre product that current 5E players just ignore it. But, as long as Dark Sun is opened to the DM’s Guild...

[Green Ronin] SAGE, Simple AGE system, Engine Magazine #3

That’s great. Thanks for the review. How are powers handled in the superhero setting?

    Shadowheart...Daggerdark [+]

For me it’s about genre. I don’t really like the superhero fantasy of 5E or Daggerheart. If I wanted a superhero fantasy game, I’d play an actual superhero game in a fantasy setting. I like sword & sorcery. So want the game to reflect that. I’d be fine with abstracting things like gold as...

    Shadowheart...Daggerdark [+]

I've played a fair amount of PbtA and BitD games, so I'm used to that same ebb and flow from the dice. That's likely why I'm iffy on the tokens. I don't see what they add by themselves on the fear side, the hope side is pretty obvious. But giving the PC a kind of minor recharge on a "hope" roll...

    Shadowheart...Daggerdark [+]

The more I think about it the more I get lost in the weeds. Here's a pass of what I'm thinking now. I'd start from a Shadowdark base and mostly add things from Daggerheart. Getting all the easy stuff out of the way: add environments, countdowns/clocks, downtime, ancestry format, mixed-ancestry...

What are you reading in 2025?

I just finished this. It only took me 1.6 hours to read. It also took me almost a week to get that 1.6 hours. Man I hate my brain sometimes. Great yarn. Very 1950s or 1960s pulp sci-fi. The fancy new US spaceship crashes on the moon. The crew meets the decedent descendants of an alien empire...

    Violence and (Geek) Entertainment

Absolutely. It's always been my favorite genre and the movie resparked my interest. So tired of endless, mindless slaughter.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I'd really like to see the data on that. I've always thought the RPG space was filled to bursting with neurodivergent people.
