I think all the artwork on dungeon crawl classics maps makes things confusing and I wish it wasn't there. Looks cool, but kind of dysfunctional. ETA Hole is ok and the Trip Hop video gives me a headache. Kids, and their friggan rocknroll. Sheesh

I think black face has everything to do with intention, even if it's "just a joke." Provide the simple explanation you gave here of why they're wearing black paint on their face. I think your friend will be able to discern the difference. Maybe crack a joke, but still he'd be fine with it.

You can use "fake talk" to get the jump on your enemies ...oh wait. That BG 2. Never mind.
