Can a Ring of Counterspells negate a Fireball?

And it seems pretty obvious to me that if they meant targeted, they'd have said targeted. And I'd say yeah, being caught in a fireball pretty much equals having fireball cast upon you. It says it works as a counterspell action. You can counterspell non-targeted effects.

Can a Ring of Counterspells negate a Fireball?

If it meant targets, it'd say targets. It doesn't say targets, so it works, as though it was a counterspell action.

Great Hero Showdown Final Round (Voting Closed)

Batman. For starters, the guy is more "heroic" to me than Indy. Secondly, I can't vote against the character who's been my fave comic book hero since I was five.

The Golden Age of D&D and its Art...

I'm with Third Wizard and CarlZog. Its the art you first encounter that you fall in love with. The only thing I think Otus is the God of is hysterically bad perspective and composition. And I won't disrespect the dead with my opinion of DCS. For me, its WAR, Lockwood and Spencer all the way.

    Colossal D&D Miniatures News!

PURPLE WORM! I must have a Purple Worm! Also hoping for Ulgurstasta (I know at least one of these is gonna show up in the Age of Worms) and Elemental Monoliths.

    He sundered my familiar!

Actually, I don't see what's wrong with it. It helps stop OOTS-type Familiars.

    Artificers Overpowered?

Artificer has enormous loopholes that can be wriggled through. First and foremost are the infusions Supress Requirement and Metamagic Item. Second are the Artisan feats, especially the XP and GP discount ones. Combine those with Retain Essence, and artificiers can blow the wealth by level...

long long post about my system of choice problem...

I personally say tweak D&D 3.X to your liking, but if that doesn't work, then Savage Worlds is easily one of the best systems out there. Horror of horrors, its a generic system that actually works! And as for running your old Mystara adventures, I know that a group of Savage fans out there are...

    1. Indiana Jones. Gandalf lets the mortal take care of things. 2. Batman. Because he's Batman.

Advice for the next campaign - Big Evil Race

OK, depending on which race the campaign goes with, here's my suggestions Goliath: Yak Folk slavelords, Gargoyle predators, or Salamander invaders. The Yak Folk, with their Body Meld ability, would be interesting. Halflings: The Gnoll idea is fantastic. Elves: Hmmm, if we go with the Forest...

    Running Gags

"The Pianos say so!" Used to refer to something being mandated by a module, the stupider the better. Came from the time someone said that if you interrupted boxed text, a piano would fall on you. "I clog dance, and throw my clogs at him!" Wasting a round doing nothing. "Crazy Joe" No matter...

    Weapon Names

Ah, named weapons. AFAIC, if its a magic weapon, it needs a name. Here's some I've seen in games: Holy Frost Longbow: "Bitter Tears" Undead Bane Silver Waraxe: "Wraithslayer" Sacred Fiend Bane Cold Iron Waraxe: "Fiendsplitter" Construct Bane Flaming Adamantine Hammer: "Forgebreaker" Keen...

Best Sword (Or any weapon type) Fights ever?

Just a nitpick, Jen was Fox's student, not Jade Fox herself. All the same, that is an awesome fight scene, although I think the fights in Hero are better, particularly the opening duel between Nameless and Cloud, and Snow and Moon's battle in the garden.

What? The antimagic field is a cone shaped emanation, when the Beholder five foot steps forwards, the cone moves with it.

    Favorite Animal Companion

Tiger, for visual flair as much as for power. Besides, if we're talking about power, lets just drop the pretenses, and acknowledge the power of a Riding Dog with a fistful of HD, or an Ape full power attacking with a Spiked Greatclub.

Could the Live Transformers Movie Herald...

But...the Angels are the context for the entire story! Lessee which Angels though are absolutely needed (this is opinion though), and what they provided to the story? The 3rd Angel, Sachiel (AKA Beaky), is the first one we see, and the first one fought. The 4th, Shamsel, is important, since...

Shadows of the Last War is a lot of fun. Whispers of a Vampire's Blade is terrible though.
