    So...where does retraining fit in?

Well until 3.5e/4e, I would have never even considered retraining something, so so as simple as if seems, Yes. I enjoy the ability to pick a power/feat/etc, try it for a level then try something else. I can do this at home, away from the game table, no need to involve the DM. Also, without rule...

    So...where does retraining fit in?

If it is no big deal & you agree with concept, then why are you against having a rule for it.

How Do you Feel About Healing Surges? (Read First!)

I do not believe this is a 4E problem. In any edition a challenging combat can result in a PC unconscious. In any edition of D&D, It is no fun have no actions. That is the role of the leader/healers to get downed chars back up.

How Do you Feel About Healing Surges? (Read First!)

If you have 3-5 encounters in a day, being the adventure, then HS don't refresh too quickly. If Resting to get HS back is bed rest, not sleeping on a dungeon floor, not sleeping on the cold forest ground, that that is what you achieve.

How Do you Feel About Healing Surges? (Read First!)

For me, that IS what I want D&D to be, lots of action & very heroic. The heros get beaten down a few times, but keep coming back. I dread the have one a single combat then go back to town to recover, the 15 min work day. I also dread the, we have a bucket of CLW wands, 40 hours work day as well.

Intentions for the new beta rules

I think that everyone's feedback is the whole point, if enough people have similar feedback, that can adjust. Although I hope every one feedback is made after actual playtesting & not just after reading the rules. See how the games plays out.

Holding a charge and spell conditions

Maybe I am confused, but does "cursed" mean "bad" effects happen. Creating "cursed" scrolls might be vaguely legal, that was never the intent for cursed scrolled to grant beneficial effects. So lets just call "cheese" for what it is.

How Do you Feel About Healing Surges? (Read First!)

So only which ever version of D&D YOU play (like), is REAL D&D? I think NOT. Healing Surges & KITS are both D&D, and ALWAYS will be. So far in the poll, less than 50% "dislike" HSs, so plenty of gamers like them. HSs give a reasonable limit to healing, rather than the unstopable 3e CLW party.

How Do you Feel About Healing Surges? (Read First!)

I so disagree, please explain why you think that is so. In any edition, when the casters use most/all their dailies, the party goes home to rest. I cannot see how surges change anything.

The Ranger: What is his shtick?

I think it might be possible (and cool too) if you could customize the Ranger using themes. A woodsman Theme to get Tracking/animal knowledge or Hunter to get Archery. Maybe Theme X to get spell casting as to create any or all of the previous ed Rangers.

The Ranger: What is his shtick?

Opps, you are correct. But "Blacksmith" is a theme, that doesn't really equate to a Ranger or Barbarian nor Skirmisher either. What buzz are you referring to? Mike Mearls said, themes are what you do, backgrounds are where your from (so something close to that). I never heard anything official...

The Ranger: What is his shtick?

I disagree strongly, I have no wish to live in the past, the game has moved on. Sometimes not perfectly, but move on it has & will continue to. We know "Noble, Pub Crawler & Commoner" are 5e Themes, doesn't seem balanced nor likely that Barbarian or Ranger would be a themes.

    Fighter design goals . L&L April 30th

I believe this is the First public playtest WOTC has done, how are "and no one I sure how long it will run or what exactly is in the PT. How is WOTC ..."So, like before, they're going to let us actually have the rules when it's too late to have input on them?" How many WOTC PTs have you...

Who will be the new lead designer?

I don't believe so, Mike Mearls is senior manager of the Dungeons & Dragons research and design team and team leader of the 5th Edition version of the game. Which made Mike Mearls, Monte's boss if I understand things correctly. My hope would be to rehire Skip Williams.

Who will be the new lead designer?

Not a dumb question at all, but a difficult one. Back in Sept, people smarter than myself (bloggers), guessed about 5E claiming WOTC had freelancers interviewing in Wash at WOTC HQ, but keeping silent on what they were interviwing for. A few Weeks latter we were told Monte was hired, so my guess...

DCC Character Levels vs DnD Levels

If this is a Goodman Games product post, having nothing to do with 4E. Then why is this posted in the 4E forums?

Will Next be able to do HackMaster?

In your OP, basically ask about Hackmaster, like you have never read the game, Saying "from what i hear...". Now you are posting quotes from the HM-GMG. So do you really own a copy of HM, even a PDF copy?

    Stone Trolls in D&D

FYI... Fensir, also called Ysgardian trolls, frequent the first and third layers of Ysgard. Despite their name, they are nothing like prime material trolls. Fensir wear only simple clothing. While some are hideously ugly, many fensir have a basic...
