It seems like you consider published adventures for newbies & children. Some are only casual gamers, not willing to spend countless hours in world & adventure creation. Seems like again, some are dictating or criticizing a play style.

Lots, Loads, Tons!....Lots as long as they are done well & make sense, rather than say we 3 melee or 3 casters or limit to 3 each, etc... No matter the number, some will be disappointed, some will complain, yet some will stomp their feet in protest. It s way to early to fear anything.

Sounds more like YOU have decide the correct method of 'sand box' play style. Why can't I run a sand box campaign any way I want ? Play styles should conform to the group of players rather than the player conform to the play style.

They need to incorporate the best of ALL editions. You will be completely disappointing If you are expecting a updated 1e game. The goal is to support many play styles not recreate an old edition with new rules.
