Pathfinder 1E Best third party publisher Pathfinder products?

There are some serious kick-ass 3PP products available for Pathfinder. I'm fond of the following: Rite Publishing: Secrets of Martial Mastery - gold star expansed combat manuevers. Highly recommended. Tripod Machine: A Fist Full of Denarii - FINALLY! A set of class expansions focusing on...

Creating a Dark Fantasy Campaign (Read 1st post)

As it appears that my current Kalamar campaign is drawing to a close, I’ve been prepping for the next campaign to be set in Pathfinder’s Golarion. As I’m putting the framework together, I’ve been thinking I want to plant the game squarely in the dark fantasy camp. To use video game vernacular...

Pathfinder 1E Virtual Table Tops – Which for Pathfinder (Pros/Cons)?

Virtual Table Tops – Which for Pathfinder (Pros/Cons)? Ok, so with the annoying intrusions of that thing called Real Life, my regular gaming sessions haven’t run for almost 2 months. While face-face will always be preferred, I’m thinking of utilizing a VTT for periods where scheduling is more...

It's Almost the Season for WOTC layoff!

While everything you've presented is possible, none of it is at odds with the supposition that WotC chooses this policy rather than being forced to it. There are many strategies that could be employed including the path of least resistance. (If that's what the regular firings are.) And while...

It's Almost the Season for WOTC layoff!

That comment was only made based on the posts made on this site by current & former WotC employees & others in the industry. It was only meant to illustrate that WotC does not have a reputation of having a corporate culture indicative of a company in decline whereby regular layoffs are a...

    D&D 4E 4E Dislike - a hypothesis

For me, 4e doesn't piss me off. It's not my cup of tea. Has WotC pissed me off in the past? Yep, and I'm sure some of that bleeds over into to my opinion of 4e. What pisses me off is when I successfully separate the two and people in the pro-4e camp are either dismissive, insulting, or...

Pathfinder 1E Golarion Pronunciation of Drow

Kidding aside, I always figured it had the long "O". Lots of people throw out cow, but c'mon, there's a bit of precedent... Crow... Throw... Row... Brow... wait.... DAM (sp intended) YOU ENGLISH LANGUAGE!!!! Why do you vex us so?!??!?!?!?!?! I'm still going with long "o", 3:1 - let...

It's Almost the Season for WOTC layoff!

<Emphasis mine.> See, this is the crux of the issue for me. As others have stated, this bi-annual layoff policy works for WotC. In other words, it's proven to be a viable business practice. The policy is a fact and the fact that the trend has been observable for several years strongly...

    D&D 4E 4E Dislike - a hypothesis

Doesn't match the experience of myself or my players. Started with Red Book Basic rules & Blue Book Expert rules. Moved to AD&D 1e and played well into 2e. Eventually abandoned D&D during the 2e days & came back to D&D around the time 3.5 was released. 4e doesn't appeal to me in the slightest.

Pathfinder 1E Golarion Pronunciation of Drow

Huh, I would've bet he'd go with Drow like Crow. Escpecially since it rhymes with 'emo'.

    Can't really argue with that.

It's Almost the Season for WOTC layoff!

Here's another thing. Business plans are an intentional strategy that a company attempts to execute. While everything you said is correct, it's also pretty well established that this is a recurring event within WotC and by all appearances part of their business plan. If WotC, as part of the...

Pathfinder 1E give me a reason to like Pathfinder

As for Pathfinder & my responses: I'm not sure how we arrived here but for what it's worth, I've responded to dozens of threads asking "Why Pathfinder?". I've never encountered a response to my feedback such as yours before. In my first post, I was trying to identify the aim of the post: were...

Pathfinder 1E give me a reason to like Pathfinder

Regadring your post: 1. These kind of comments are what had me wondering why you wanted to be sold. Since backwards compatability was a design goal AND given your lengthy list of possible issues, it seemed odd you'd drop the APs b/c they shifted to Pathfinder. Checking out the 1st issue of...

Pathfinder 1E give me a reason to like Pathfinder

Given the title & your list, I'm curious -- why do you want to be sold on Pathfinder? As I read through this thread I was left with the following question: If your issues list (real or perceived) is this long, and you're happy with 4e, why are you looking to be "sold"? If it's strictly a...

Pathfinder 1E D&D and Pathfinder tied for first place on ICv2 Q3 RPG sales list

You're equating "installing the CEO" to "can't/won't be hands-off". That's not necessarily true. It's perfectly feasible that Hasbro can install the CEO & then step back and let him do his job. Also, companies are made up of individuals. Working at Company A does not brainwash a person such...

Pathfinder 1E D&D and Pathfinder tied for first place on ICv2 Q3 RPG sales list

I'm sorry, I just have to shake my head when I see stuff like this. So my speculation is a silly counterpoint yet the idea of Hasbro dictating the day-to-day operations of an entire division is plausible? Gotta love the Internet. How do I know? I don't. But having lived in the Parent...

Pathfinder 1E D&D and Pathfinder tied for first place on ICv2 Q3 RPG sales list

Yep, all just speculation. My own anecdotal evidence is drawn from working for a corporation that was a division of a larger parent company and was later sold off. So I've seen the struggle between field & management, management & executives, & execs & execs from parent company. I've seen...
