    Last Parsec Kickstarter

Yeah, I've been chomping at the bit for this one. I had to sell the wife on how much I was going to save buying into the kickstarter vs. buying items piecemeal later. :) She wouldn't really have cared either way, but I'd gone equally deep into the well for the Southlands kickstarter going on...

    Last Parsec Kickstarter

Hey, Savage World fans! The Kickstarter for The Last Parsec is underway and funded in an hour! If you're looking for more fast, furious, fun science fiction goodness, check it out. (I'm sure some might have missed it with the unending onslaught of 5e links on the front page...)

Pathfinder 1E Where does Pathfinder go from here?

Pathfinder, as RPG, has been out for 5 years as of this past August. People were claiming when it launched that the system was "done" from a design standpoint. Five years later, we've got archetypes, new classes that weren't earlier edition re-treads, mythic rules, kingdom-building rules...

Science Fiction Companion - Colony-based Campaign

Thanks, those are good suggestions! Over on the Pinnacle forums, I was steered towards Stars Without Number which looks like it fit the bill precisely! It also looks like the subsystems aren't tied to the player mechanics making it a nice supplement to the main Savage Worlds shenanigans.

Science Fiction Companion - Colony-based Campaign

While most of my RPG-experience has been centered around fantasy RPGs, my love of science fiction predates my love of the fantasy genre and while basic D&D was my first RPG purchase, it was Star Frontiers that forever hooked me on tabletop role-playing games. With my discovery of Savage Worlds...

Hmm, no Rolemaster, Harp, or Merp Tag/ Where is the rolemaster/merp "Delivering a baby" skill chart?

Rolemaster Companion 1 (blue cover, I think) had a chart that determined outcomes (# of children, potential complications, etc.) if memory serves. That's the only thing I can recall on the subject within the game.

    D&D 5E (2014) PH(B) Soldier Background (Art is new)

I don't think claiming the high ground is in the cards for you after calling people haters for no good reason. But you're right in that I've wasted way too much time talking about this. It's sad, though, that the launch of 5e hasn't returned these boards to the friendly place where people...

    D&D 5E (2014) PH(B) Soldier Background (Art is new)

I agree that the helmet is somewhat larger than her head, but since popular opinion seems to be that her piled on hair helps cushion the blow, I was giving that a pass. Helmet as depicted or not, a full helm is going to be a hindrance if it doesn't fit her head and she can't see out of the eye...

    D&D 5E (2014) PH(B) Soldier Background (Art is new)

Wait a second... So unless I'm fawning over one particular piece of art, I'm a "hater"?!?!? So should I infer that you consider yourself inclusive and open-minded... so long as others are in sync with your opinions? Wow, that's pretty weak even for the Internet.

    D&D 5E (2014) PH(B) Soldier Background (Art is new)

Sure, why not? :/ 1. Unlike the pictures that Klaus included upthread, the Soldier art depicts a woman with a hairpin that is longer than the entire width of her head. This is similar to the 2nd picture (the one without a helmet), but if a hairpin is used in the 1st and 3rd pictures, they are...

    D&D 5E (2014) PH(B) Soldier Background (Art is new)

You're wrong. My first post said that I liked the idea of the female samurai as a representative soldier depiction. It's a piece of art but one that I found to be lacking, hence the "Samurai Barbie" tag - she looks like she could be one of the collectible Barbie dolls that my wife used to...

    D&D 5E (2014) PH(B) Soldier Background (Art is new)

My post could have been clearer, I suppose, but what I meant was that the hair rod and whatever the decorations in her hair are would make it impossible to wear the helmet. As has also been pointed out, I would expect also expect a samurai to be a noble but I can hand-wave that away. The rest...

    D&D 5E (2014) PH(B) Soldier Background (Art is new)

Sorry, folks, although I'm a fan of the female samurai depiction in concept for this soldier, she looks like she should be named Samurai Barbie with the eye makeup, long hair, and hair rod & decorations that makes it impossible to wear her helmet. Also, her left hand seems disproportionate...

    D&D 5E (2014) Necromancer Games - 3 5E books announced!

Considering how much work Mearls got in the 3e/3.5 era under the d20 & OGL licenses, he'd have to be a bit of a hypocrite not to be an OGL fan. Mr. Mearls doesn't strike me as a hypocrite. I could be wrong, however. I've been a pretty big fan of Schwalbs' work in the past but I thought his...

So You're Just Not "Feeling It" for 5e - What ARE you excited about?

Absolutely no interest in 5e. As my previous post probably shows, I am very excited about my Savage Worlds campaigns. They're easy to prep for so it's much easier to run simultaneous campaigns in different genres without feeling overwhelmed. Campaigns that I'm currently prepping: A sci-fi...

So You're Just Not "Feeling It" for 5e - What ARE you excited about?

I got interested in Savage Worlds primarily out of a desire to find a good system with which to run sci-fi campaigns. I really hadn't looked too closely at Savage Worlds prior to that. I knew it had a vocal fanbase but I told myself "not buying another system" and "multi-genre never really...
