    Ads appearing anyway

Is it now? Because the internet, by it's nature, allows more exact tracking of ad delivery and effectiveness and the customers (the advertisers) demand that accountability or they take their business elsewhere. Once again, a demonstration of woeful ignorance about the business which you are...

Making Ads Open in a New Tab

Explain to me why the W3C deprecated the target attribute in HTML 4 and removed it in HTML 4.01 Strict if you know so much about how the web works then? Opening links in new windows and tabs is supposed to be a user choice, not a site owner choice by design. Browsers have a back button by...

    Ads appearing anyway

Apples and Oranges. Television ads are sold by length and time shown and then added to the feed. By the time the show hits the air they are paid for so whether you fast forward through them or not. The same incidentally for newspaper ads - they are paid for before they are embedded into the...

Making Ads Open in a New Tab

So to indulge your laziness you're asking to inconvenience those using PDA's and small monitors to browse the site (because opening in a new window breaks the browser's back button)? My personal opinion of automatically opening pages in a new window is this: It's akin to a vacuum cleaner...

    Ads appearing anyway

Ok, Capn, you need an education in online ads and how they work: Ads are sold in impression lots - around $1 per 1000 impressions. Nearly every page serve triggers an exposure. Consider a site that runs through approximately 4 million pages. If each one carries an ad that's $4000 revenue...

    Ads appearing anyway

First off, it isn't my site. Second off, using an adblocker is stealing bandwidth from the site operator since you are cutting off their ability to pay for the bandwidth you are using. Third, if the problem continues to grow there are ways to stop adblock plugins. Most all of them are far more...

    Forums are Painfully slow

When was the last time the mail spool was checked? What about the apache logs? What's the drive space available? Is Adlon watching this stuff? If not who because I don't anymore. It has to be checked - if you let it run out of memory it will NOT be fun for anyone.

Adblockers can be blocked and it's not that hard either.

    "Unrecoverable fatal error"

Russ has been wanting to replace the index.html file with the index.php file of vbulletin advanced CMPS. PAM, the framework I wrote and which drives the ads hasn't been cooperative. I just spent the last hour making it cooperative. I now return to my regularly scheduled retirement.

Ahem - I did not ask to be removed from the ENnies staff.

I asked to be removed from the Admin group - I did not ask to be removed from the ENnies staff. Please resolve this.

    EN World clock? (merged)

Note that the OS copy is so old it that it predates Congress changing the dates that daylight savings time beings and ends. Hence vbulletin is getting confused by the system clock shifting on what are now the wrong dates. Presumably when servers change over the the OS is overhauled this problem...

    Shaded Relief Experiments

Hey everyone. I've been away awhile, working on somethings, gearing up for my next big project. I'm going to go over process in here and I'm looking for tips and pointers. Of course if you just want to look at maps be sure to look at the ones near the end as they are the complete ones. After...

    Threads remain on here indefinitely.

    Pretty up the front page!

Anyone who has any ideas on this pitch them to Russ and see what he says. Any further design will not be done with or by me - as I have announced in the admin forum I will be leaving once the site is moved to the new servers.

    CM Returning errors

Fixed. vBlogettin apparently was pointing to a file in /http and I've deleted that directory (I have a backup)
