MySQL Help Wanted: Current my.cnf file

I think I'll try that later tonight - we'll know when I restart the server and the site goes totally down.

    EN2 very much slower

I'm beginning to think the box is rooted again. The pattern is invariant - 10-15 minutes of quick response then major lag. Hidden cron job perhaps? I've no idea how to look for or fix the problem if it is intrusion. I've tried different settings each night for the last week folks. I'm sorry...

Not possible. And how soon do you forget these problems where present on the old codebase as well.

This thread is to discuss the third article in the character points series.

    Spam Posts

I've installed a new spam bot - not one I wrote and it takes a different approach, but it should slow or stop the bots.

Is the "my posts" button anywhere?

Quick Links > My Profile. It's in there. The link isn't as quickly available but it's still there.

Front Page Really slow to load

Well let's try yet *another* setting, see what it does. This time I'll dial mysql back on its memory requirements.

MySQL Help Wanted: Current my.cnf file

All tables in use are myISAM. We have 8GB on the board and 4 processor cores. I'm beginning to think the culprit is httpd.conf though since the slow loading is occuring even on the pages that don't require a database to be instatiated to be seen, such as Claudio Pozas' site.

    Usability: Too many borders

I don't have the time to rebuild vbulletin's basic skin - yet. The use of tables for layout is excessive throughout the vbulletin linked pages but rebuilding the templates will require about 60 to 80 hours I don't have.

Front Page Really slow to load

We own the box. Possible. I honestly think I've been looking in the wrong place. File transfers where the database isn't involved at all have been slow as well - this is leading me to rexamine the httpd.conf settings. Likely but won't be addressable until after the OS reinstall sometime...

Desperate times, desperate measures, I need help people, please.

Interview went an hour and 15. I feel good about it, but I'll know in one to two weeks.

Poison Pill v. Restraint of Trade

Ran into this blog entry. http://bryant.livejournal.com/629807.html?thread=1734447 Interesting point. He's not a lawyer, and neither am I, so the theory that the GSL poison pill is utterly unenforceable under the common law doctrine of restraint of trade may be a load of bunk. It's certainly...

MySQL Help Wanted: Current my.cnf file

I know at least a couple users on here use mysql. As of 2:37AM this morning this is the mysql.cnf settings the machine seems happy with - but I won't know for sure until the morning and noon rushes work. As it stands I'm getting page replies within half a second at the moment. # The...

Front Page Really slow to load

I have backed up the databases and changed the mysql settings, nearly quadrupling the allocated memory to mysql processes and bumping the concurrect mysql connection count from 650 to just over 2000. We're either going to be fine or the machine is going to melt a hole in the floor at about 1 PM...

Desperate times, desperate measures, I need help people, please.

Seeing this site finally upgraded, stable, and able to be expanded and easily maintained once more has been one of the happiest moments of my life. Now comes one of the saddest admissions I have ever had to make but at this point I have no other choice. It has been known to the admin staff that...

Forum or prefix for the Wiki?

When I get the time I want to divert Wiki's discuss this page feature to a vbulletin forum where each page has a thread linked to it. I've actually created the forum for this, but it's currently hidden.
