    Exalted d20?

Skills (abilities) are a part of exalted. But not the D20 style baggage version of skills. Especially not the D20 style "EVERY SKILL HAS A PRE-DEFINED STAT WITH IT". I like sometimes needing a Stamina + Larceny check. Another thing is that Exalted skills are large and nebulous. There's a perform...

Vin Diesel Once Again Speaks About DND

Time to pay the skeptic. This that some of this could be priming for his fan base?

    Exalted d20?

It's possible. But not something that I'm enthused over. But skills? Eh. Feats? Slightly less eh. And aren't those staples of being part of the D20 system (aside from having the social stats all dumped into CHA). It can be done mind you, as half of each Exalted book I've gotten my hands on is...

What X gets in the way of roleplaying?

I find that players typically get in the way of RP. Laugh if you will, but we've got a whole range of things players can do to destroy a good bit of RP. The guy who doesn't say anything at all, ever. The guy who keeps talking, and gives no room for interplay. The guy who keeps shutting down...

    Bard Variant Ideas

Just make sure you get expertise. You're going to need as much "I'm not getting hit" as you can possibly get. :D

    Bard Variant Ideas

Back in 3.0, my bard had 'stage combat' and 'brash insults' as performance types. My goal was to be out there, spouting an endless stream of stupid insults while looking completely awesome and untouchable during the middle of combat as my bard song. "Wow! Look at him go! These guys can't be so bad."

Does any one have a problem with the HD size of a ranger?

No, I don't have a problem with it, because, compared to the fighter and paladin, the 3.5 ranger gets a whole lot more special abilities. Thus, something has to compensate. And, as they moved the ranger to "lightly armored woods scout and combatant" the scout role got a little more precidence...

So say you are lawful good ......

Why do I feel like I'm stepping into a pit trap? Yes. So how are you defining lawful? And for that matter, is it EEVEELL with a capital E, or self centered, or what? Is the entire government/society corrupt, or just a few key individuals?

    Is D&D too complicated?

Agreed. It's especially true in my case. See, I migrated away from D&D a little while ago (my players have a nasty pre-conception of D&D that makes it less fun). I'd like to run a secondary game, and we're all familiar with D&D, but the investment all around just turns out to be a little too...

Building Rapport b/w PCs and NPCs

Well, I have two instances that I know of that worked. The first was an elven ranger who basically hung off the fighter's arm, trailblazed, guarded the important NPC, and gave him (the fighter) better pieces of the catch. The other one is in my current game. There's a smith who is supplying the...

Things that Irk Me about DnD (Somewhat long, kinda ranty)

Well, there's the potential for variety, working under stressful circumstances. But I think most important is the fact that I always just assume that PC's get gobs more (50% minimum) than any NPC would get. Why? They're special. :D

    Slow Player

I have a player (and a half) like this. It's especially bad when he gets sidetracked into talking during his turn. This is when I hold up a hand and say "5...4....3...2...1..." If I reach 0, his turn is skipped. Usually I get to 3 and he's moving though.

    Sociopathic PCs -- an epidemic?

WOO! TESTIFY! I don't have nearly so much of a problem with the guys who don't have much character history. I have a problem with the guy who has 10 pages of detailed history that explain WHY he has no friends, that his family is on the other end of the earth, and sets a behavior precident for...

Can a Wizard make a Healing Spell?

So, one of four points, some of the time? Still not a compelling arguement.

Can a Wizard make a Healing Spell?

I always find it odd when people state that most fantasy literature doesn't make a separation between types of magic. In a sizable portion of the ones I've read there is usually the healer, and then the wizard. And they're usually fairly separate. They're not always separate, but in those...

Things that Irk Me about DnD (Somewhat long, kinda ranty)

Ok, as far as the arcane/divine split goes, I'm actually good with that. Most fantasy novels I've read separate out the guys who can heal from the guys who can shoot lazers or disentegrate stuff. Do you want some guy who has a forte of turning things to dust trying to cure you of an infection...

Thank-you, Gentlemen of the Jury (says the Pedophile-Killing Paladin)

Personally, I just want to congratulate your DM on dealing with a difficult situation, having his judgement called into question on multiple accounts, and finally finding a solution that sounds like it's both fun, and keeps the peace.

    Game Prep - For Players?

I've got one guy who preps, one who refuses, one who will prep if reminded, and one who 'preps' by me holding his hand and him dutefully taking notes. All in all, sounds like I got lucky on the draw.

    Can a GM cheat?

Well, in the most ambigous terms possible, yes a GM can cheat. How do I know? As a player I know that I've felt cheated before. And as a GM I have (in my youthful hubris) cheated players out of things they had earned. Is fudging a die roll cheating? I don't know. I guess cheating is, in this...
