    People have the strangest deal-breakers

It's not really a deal breaker for me (I don't have any that are very likely to actually happen, it would be an accumulation of small things that would prevent me from buying) but something that really bothered me in the previous edition and would greatly annoy me once more would the reservation...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e fireballs

The problem isn't that a wizard could do things like cast Knock and open a door or whatever else have you, that takes up valuable resources that could have been put to something else if you'd just let the Rogue do his job. The problem was that 3e/3.5e took away the resource cost by making wands...

D&D 4E 5E as a Rewritten 4E with Flavor Bits from Other Editions?

While there are some things I genuinely like about 4E, there are a lot more things about it that I grew to loath over my time playing it. I think there is a lot to learn from the system, but I think a lot of lessons come from flaws, or great ideas that weren't quite executed right. In short...

    D&D 5E (2014) Should 5E have Healing Surges?

The reason is very simple, with Healing Surges a character doesn't have access to all the HP at once during combat. The upshot of this is you can have an HP differential between say a Fighter and a Wizard, but it exist more in terms of staying power than the wizard being able to be smeared in a...

What kind of New Setting for Fifth Edition? (Other than old settings)

It's been done in the past, and i think if WotC really wants to show off the new edition as a tool kit then they need to seriously consider going back to this. Maybe even a nice little disclaimer, "this setting uses this, this, and this, but it's your game and your setting once you bring it to...

    People have the strangest deal-breakers

It seems likely they will continue to exist in some form or another since they were specially called out that some magic feats could give per encounter spells of sorts.

What doesn't belong in the "core"

That's not true. It depends entirely on how integrated a particular rules widget is with the whole of the system. For instance if I wanted to remove encounter powers from 4E that would be quite the undertaking and would have a massive amount of cascading consequences. On the other hand if I...

    D&D 5E (2014) The classes of 5e (now with 90% less speculation)

Well that would explain why I don't really associate summoning the 4E Warlock, though I've perused a few essentials books I had given up 4E for all practical purposes by the time they had hit. Given their ties to other worldly patrons and their propensity for making deals it would have made a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Three Wishes for 5E

Add one more to my wish list. I wish for powers or abilities that don't preclude characters from being able to attempt something anyone should be able to do just by their very existence. For example Power Attack, why is that a feat or a class power? Taking a mighty great swing at the cost...

    D&D 5E (2014) Should 5E have Healing Surges?

If they do get rid of them I really hope they don't revert to the old carry around quiver full of wands of cure light wounds thing. That would make me a little sad.

    D&D 5E (2014) Should 5E have Healing Surges?

Well with or without, most or all the iterations of the following have had access to healing. Clerics/Priests, Druids, Bards, Paladins, Rangers, and Warlords (Am I forgetting any?).

    D&D 5E (2014) Should 5E have Healing Surges?

Not to quibble, but isn't that normally how you accessed Healing Surges, by taking a short rest (i.e. stopping to catch your breath, bind your wounds et c.) or by being healed either via potion or spell?

    D&D 5E (2014) Should 5E have Healing Surges?

So I don't think we've heard anything as of yet to indicate one way or the other whether healing surges will make an appearance in the next edition, but what do you all think about them? Would you like to see Healing Surges in the next edition of D&D? Personally they are one of my favorite...

    People have the strangest deal-breakers

It almost feels like some people are trying to take the process hostage by drawing a line in the sand and saying do this or I won't buy your game in some wrong headed attempt at playing chicken with WotC. And then there are just a few people who are looking for an excuse to nerdrage...

    Powers dropping out...

I would be genuinely surprised if such things haven't been given their due consideration. That said, there is only so much that can done about gamers that are playing such that their characters are only having one combat per resource reset cycle without fundamentally altering how the game is...

    Powers dropping out...

They have to make some assumptions about how the game is played or they won't have anything to base decisions on.

My least favorite thing about D&D is balance.

Balance is fine right up until the point it starts to take precedence over flavor. If you start altering flavor in the quest for perfect balance then you've gone too far. Balance shouldn't be an afterthought or a non-thought, but neither should it be the driving factor.

    D&D 5E (2014) The classes of 5e (now with 90% less speculation)

I would much rather there was a mechanism to learn additional feats, i.e. remove the hard cap and treat them sort of how a Wizard can learn new spells. It shouldn't be so easy that you can just pick them up willy nilly, but it should be so that if you want to learn something new you can without...

    D&D 5E (2014) The classes of 5e (now with 90% less speculation)

So feats could essentially wind up being an alternate way of learning spells, i.e. smaller spells the wizard knows so well he doesn't have to prep them. I think that could be interesting, if they're not too conservative with it. The only draw back to this is that there will probably be a...

    Psionics

I think a lot of what should make up psionics is already in the core of most versions of the game, it's just under that big (massive, humungous, gargantuan) tent that is arcane magic. You could silo a lot of those types of spells of and make a very interesting psion out of those abilities, while...
