    RPG Evolution: Hasbro's AI Plans

My disgust with all this requires profanity, but alas, this venue can't contain such safely.

ZWEIHÄNDER Reforged: Talking With Daniel D. Fox (World of Game Design)

Thanks for providing some clarity. The bits I saw that give me any cause for concern is #5. It is understandable that it is also the most vague and ill substantiated.

ZWEIHÄNDER Reforged: Talking With Daniel D. Fox (World of Game Design)

So if this is off topic, I am happy to be redirected to another thread that already goes into it. What are the issues people are citing with Daniel Fox? Is it just internet gonna internet or is there some substance?

WotC Hasbro CEO optimistic about AI in D&D and MTG’s future

Jasus this is disheartening. I've been trying very hard to just push past the online catastrophizing that gets amplified by outrage driven algorithms, but this is naked greed presented without shame or obfuscation in the slightest. My overall negative outlook on the effect of AI generated...

Evil Monster Ancestries - Yay or Nay?

I think the danger here is confusing "good" as in to be viewed or to view oneself as morally correct and upright with "Good" as a game term, like "Lawful Good." That is a purely game term. It should no more exist in the setting than hit points.

Evil Monster Ancestries - Yay or Nay?

So typically, what makes an ancestry not work is power level more than alignment expectations. A medusa doesn't work in my campaigns due to its abilities being far outside the curve for PCs, not due to it being typically evil. When it comes to species in the game and alignment, looking at the...

GMs - what is your vetting process for finding new players?

Honestly, it's more important for me that the other players at the table approve any new additions to their number. My players do the heavy lifting for vetting.

Board Game Arkham Horror Getting an RPG from Edge Studio

I'm likely to be running Scum and Villainy sometime soon and basically just run it as legally distinct Star Wars.

Board Game Arkham Horror Getting an RPG from Edge Studio

1987-1999. A good run of 12 years. But they were also some of the leanest years of the IP. In many ways, West End Star Wars helps keep the IP alive.

Board Game Arkham Horror Getting an RPG from Edge Studio

What hurts is how much Star Wars is both a great and terrible IP for a game license. There is a ton of lore that can be tapped for dozens of possible books, but it can feel too big.

Board Game Arkham Horror Getting an RPG from Edge Studio

Such is the fate of all Star Wars games, or really, all license based games.

What is your favorite RPG book of all time?

The oldest DnD book I still have on my shelf because nothing has ever even come close to replacing it.

D&D General Who “owns” a PC after the player stops using them?

What a fascinating premise. Simplest answer I can give is what the child of divorce I am would recognize it as: Joint custody.

    Is TTRPGing an "Expensive Hobby"

I will continue to advocate for tables to be willing to share economic burdens as evenly as everyone is comfortable with. A table of five players and 1 GM who each contribute $15 can be buying $120 worth of resources, which can really be stretched well. In comparison to some other geek...

    D&D 5E (2024) Do you plan to adopt D&D5.5One2024Redux?

I have every other time. Why would I stop now? How quickly is a separate question. I am holding out till next year and the expected printing of a boxed, LFGS alt cover collection of all 3 books.

Looking for views and reviews of World Anvil

So I'm running multiple campaigns and more and more, I want to develop them more cleanly. World Anvil sells itself as a service that could help. But I want some non sponsored takes on the service. 1) Are there any good video or written reviews for the service you can recommend? 2) Have you...

D&D General Top selling 5E official non-core 3 books? / Why aren't adventure books catching fire?

This isn't rocket science. Who is going to buy a rules book? Possibly anyone. Who is going to buy an Adventure? DMs, and even then mostly ones who plan to run them. I rarely run written adventures and only have purchased Ghosts of Saltmash, which I foolishly did in the hopes of real seafaring...
