D&D General What do you NOT want systems for?

For DnD specifically: Alignment as a rule system when it should just be RP signposts.

    Unpopular opinions go here

Unpopular opinion: If you don't like a game, keep it to yourself unless asked. Instead promote the games you do like.

    Unpopular opinions go here

I tried to leave the time consideration squishy. Mainly, I mean people who are going to stick in the hobby, instead of people just passing through. No shade on people who gaming doesn't click with, but for those who get stuck in, I honestly feel you become a better player by being a GM, at the...

    Unpopular opinions go here

Everyone who engages with the TTRPG hobby for any reasonable length of time (say, more than 1 year) should feel an obligation to GM at least one game.

D&D General What got you to try D&D?

This cover. I really, really loved monsters and mythology as a kid. I saw it in a Barnes and Noble at 7-8 yrs old and begged my dad to buy it for me. The rest is history.

    Aliens: Yes Or No?

The universe is too large for there not to be other examples of consciousness elsewhere. and The universe is too large for any other conscious beings to ever come here. We are in the space boonies. If there were a large number of similar solar systems within striking distance of us, things...

D&D General What is player agency to you?

Thread is already too long so my post here is purely a response to the thread title. Player Agency in a ttrpg for me is that the PCs are the ones called upon to resolve the conflict. They are the protagonists. The events of the story require the PC's presence. They cannot merely be passengers of...

What is your gaming white whale?

I want to get a physical copy of the Leverage TTRPG that isn't hundred of dollars.

Planescape Planescape Pre-order Page Shows Off The Books!

So I am curious to see how the factions will work, rules wise. Patrons feels like the most likely setup, since they are not doing feats or backgrounds it seems.

D&D 5E (2014) Is rolling a death save a valid trigger for contingency?

Sounds reasonable. It's not game breaking. If anything, I would prefer Contingency trigger by specific game term events to cut down on ambiguity, as that has more potential for abuse.

D&D 5E (2024) Is there any confusion between Poison Damage and the Poisoned Condition?

Main issue for me going in: The Poisoned mechanic feels like it should be doing damage over time, like in previous editions and in many video games. But nope. Just grants disadvantage.

    D&D Movie/TV Rate the D&D movie

It was fun. It did what I wanted. No major issues beyond lack of development for a couple of characters. I would like more. 8/10

D&D 5E (2014) How will you pick a Monster Manual alternative?

It's my experience that the MM tends to cover "the basics" with other materials tending to be more expansive. So if you only were buying one, you probably still buy the MM.

D&D 5E (2024) How would you change skills in 5.5e

Combine Animal Handling, Nature, and Survival into a single skill Create a ride/pilot skill Increase the skill floor of the classes that get only 2 skills like Fighters to 3. Get rid of languages. Replace with linguistics skill.
  16. Professor Murder

D&D 5E (2014) Can an unseen servant fly?

The living spell version of Unseen Servant from Dungeon of the Mad Mage does not have a flight speed, so I'd say no to flying.

D&D 5E (2024) What would change for you if Wizards started calling it 6E?

I would stop purchasing content until after 6th ed released.
