D&D 5E (2014) Using Downtime Training new ways

I'm not so worried about the systems. I would just expand on the existing framework and have it take more time. I'm more curious as to how good/bad an idea it may be. Like, on one hand, gaining a new skill or feat is powerful. On the other hand, if it takes say 15-20 downtime actions (DTA) to...

D&D 5E (2014) Using Downtime Training new ways

So as written, you can use Downtime to train, learning languages and tool skills. I am debating expanding this to allow for "normal" skills or even feats. Looking for some feedback.

Out with the old (Game design traditions we should let go)

Combat being a distinct and separate system for resolving conflict/solving problems.

How faithful should a culture be adapted in an RPG?

So the first question is, are you creating a game that is a historical or semi-historical recreation or are you engaged in pastiche? Example: A game inspired by the Vikings is likely to include the act that they are named for, namely raiding other communities, which would historically involve...

Searching for resources: Addressing race without racism

While I appreciate those who have weighed in with opinions, I am thankful for those who followed the prompt and provided resources.

D&D 5E (2014) How would you enhance monster entries?

Something like this. Like a "Typical first 3 actions".

Searching for resources: Addressing race without racism

Again, as I feel I made clear in my opening post, I'm not speaking to detailing a culture. I'm purely talking about how to physically describe people in a respectful way without referencing real world races or ethnic groups directly by name.

Searching for resources: Addressing race without racism

Pictures have their place, but a lot of DMing in my experience is reactive. That can include PCs walking into shops you hadn't accounted for, or looking for city officials who have no name until encountered.

D&D 5E (2014) D&D Beyond Self-Censorship: Pride Month Digital Dice Blocked In Some Countries

Totally legit. However, a real victory is better than a moral victory. Better to use a VPN to access what one is entitled to AND to pressure Hasbro to have some of the conviction that they are cosplaying as.

D&D 5E (2014) D&D Beyond Self-Censorship: Pride Month Digital Dice Blocked In Some Countries

I'm curious. Are there workarounds like there are for say streaming services?

Searching for resources: Addressing race without racism

Ah. I see where you have gotten confused. I am not talking about stats or abilities. Pure physical descriptions not rooted in racist tropes or conventions. Example: The PCs meet the blacksmith. The blacksmith has features consistent with a Samoan man. But I don't want to say, "He looks Samoan."...

Searching for resources: Addressing race without racism

As for the audience concerns, I don't worry as much at offending my table. But should I wish to put material out to a broader audience, I feel these are legit concerns.

Searching for resources: Addressing race without racism

So bare with me, and please comment only if you can be constructive and civil. I like to be evocative and vivid with my descriptions when possible, and that includes how NPCs look when PCs encounter them. I also desire to have a diverse cast, with a broad range of ethnic characteristics among a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Good Lord - I'm Taking Over 20+ Teen D&D Players

A possible strategy: Run a one shot game with your prospective DMs as players. The entire time, pause to explain why you are doing what you are doing. Basically, run an annotated adventure.
