    Ghostwise - RPing and Rulewise

Roll? Is it? I don't have the original source material for the feat, but if what the original poster posted is correct, then it's the roll, not the result, as this is what the feat clearly says... Is the actual wording different than what was posted? Later Gruns

    DM Christmas Idea-Player Coupons

I got an idea like this from a former DM of mine, and have incorporated it into the games I've DM'd for the past 6 years or so. Initially, the "gift scrolls" as he called them contained very vague statments that you simply used whenever it seemed appropriate. For example, "You swing with the...

    Initiative Question

Hmm. I was going to add my 2 cents to this thread, but after the attitude spewed forth in the post prior to this one, I've changed my mind. Ugh. Later, Gruns

    Ghostwise - RPing and Rulewise

I don't think this is complicated at all. When you and the Ghostwised person are both making a perception check, you both roll the dice. Whichever dice is higher is the one you both add to your perception skill. Bob the halfling rolls a 7, Drzzzz'nk rolls a 13, you both use the 13. That's it...

What roles in a 2 person team?

Battle Cleric and Battle Cleric. Dwarves, of course. (Just because you should pick Dwarf for every class, just like in every game.) I bet it'd be funny to only miss on just a 4 or less with your Mordenkrad... Later Gruns

Can someone explain surpires to me?

Not usually surprised. Just picture the encounter in your head. Would either party be surprised? Most likely not, depending on what they're doing. Guards, for example, should be guarding alertly. So generally, in my encounters, no one is surprised unless there's a very good reason for them to...

Sword Mage vs Rogue vs everybody else...(min-maxing and stacking damage questions)

Whoa! Whoa, whoa, whoa! This changes everything. Does this mean he actually has an 22 in STR too?!? There's a reason the default method is point buy. Munchkins always roll multiple 18's. Later! Gruns

Help requested with an Eldarin Fey Pact Warlock

Hidden vs Invisible Not quite. You will still be invisible, but being invisible simply means you are out of sight. It doesn't make you hidden. A Stealth success makes you hidden, which is more or less being invisible and silent. One of the requirements to remain hidden is that you must be...

    ongoing damage and readied action

Although it will never come up in any of my games, as my players never use such advanced tactics as readying actions(sigh), I'd have ruled exactly the way your DM ruled. In fact, as lame as it is to squeeze a mere 6 damage from a daily that hits(?), the rules are pretty clear. PHB 279 Saving...

Help requested with an Eldarin Fey Pact Warlock

Stealthy Shadow Walk concealment lasts until the end of your next turn. So you can Eyebite someone(and assuming you hit), move 3 or more squares and make a Stealth check(at -5 for moving more than 2 squares). Assuming that sticks, you will be hidden from that guy until the end of your next...

Wizard + Dungeon Door = Invincible Wizard?

    1. Add your own artillery that does the same exact thing. 2. Send in the reinforcements from behind the wizard. 3. Don't start every encounter with "There's a door. You hear monsters on the other side. What do you do?" 4. Simply change the room layout to offer more doors, wider doorways, or no...

    Beastmaster: Best for concept rangers.

Confused... Huh? You're saying that the one thing between 3E and 4E that DIDN'T change (Core mechanic) is the reason why there is such a difference between stats in 3E and 4E? Are you aware that the 3E guy that put a 15 instead of a 20 in whatever stat will miss just as much as the 4E guy that...

    Beastmaster: Best for concept rangers.

Still... Even with your stats above, I don't see how this is any more gimped in 4E than other editions. I suppose you're missing Weapon Finesse, but that's an easily houseruled feat. "Use Dex mod for attacks with Off-Hand Weapons and Light Blades". Doesn't help your scimitar, but it never did...

Sword Mage vs Rogue vs everybody else...(min-maxing and stacking damage questions)

Oh, and... And he's also a rogue, so very likely not using a shield in his arm slot so he should grab a set of those umm, Iron Bands of Power. Now we're at 22.5! And a couple more damage from either CHA or STR, depending on Brutal Scoundrel or Sly Flourish... 24.5 now! And why not a Rapier...

    Beastmaster: Best for concept rangers.

Me too... I wonder the same thing... I guess that's because I'm a 4E fanboy, though. But really, I can't think of any way at all this ranger: 11 STR 8 CON 12 DEX 16 INT 12 WIS 16 CHA ...sucks in 4E but DOESN'T suck equally as much in 3.5... Explain? 4E haters in the house? Later! Gruns

Help requested with an Eldarin Fey Pact Warlock

Ack Ah right right right. There's a feat or an item or... something that extends it to the end of your next turn. Can't remember where I saw it, but yeah, without an Action Point or a Warlord or something, no Combat Advantage. *Edit* Found the item: Master's Wand of Eyebite from AV110. Has a...

Help requested with an Eldarin Fey Pact Warlock

Stuff First, a couple of minor corrections... You can actually train in Bluff AND Intimidate if you are taking Arcane Inititate at level 1. Your Will Defense would actually be 15 (10 base, + 3 for Charisma mod, +1 for Warlock, +1 for Eladrin). Also, the +5 you get against Charms is for Saving...
