What do you want to see from 4E Publishers?

I have to admit, I'm sick of seeing kobolds and the like myself. When we do revisit monsters, am I right in assuming you'd rather see the heavy fluff that came with Denizens of Avadnu as opposed to the format from the 4e Monster Manual?

What do you want to see from 4E Publishers?

Well, it was mostly with the 3.5 switch and Distributors cutting back on their numbers. We just wanted to start differently this time and focus on something other than monsters. What do you find lacking with the current crop of 4e monsters?

What do you want to see from 4E Publishers?

We tried that approach last time and it didn't quite work the way we had intended. We are going to convert all of the monsters that made into Monte Cook's best and post them as free downloads though. Good chance you'll see a monster book from us eventually, but not right out of the gate.

    Interesting. Such as?

    Forthcoming 4E settings?

We only did Broken Isles for Violet Dawn and never showed much of the setting at all. We decided not to keep anything canon and have been redesigning the setting from the ground up to take full advantage of 4e. I have a series of Design Diaries I'll be posting shortly which go into our design...

    WotC announced non-randomized minis

Yeah. And even if we aren't talking new, a lot of the monsters have multiple variations that haven't been seen before. It's not like we need a different miniature for each version, but it some cases (like kobolds, orcs, goblins, etc.) it would help.

An Opportunity for WotC in 2009

Well, it is a lot easier... And having to reference a chart to see if I hit sucks. Yeah, I did it in the 2e days and it worked fine, but people were happy with the horse and buggy before cars were affordable too. Times change and things get better. ThAC0 died with the times and rightfully so.

    Forthcoming 4E settings?

Violet Dawn. More info at: innercircle.us.com and violetdawn.com We're not huge like Wizards or Paizo, but we do have high standards and production values.

    WotC announced non-randomized minis

This is great news. The aftermarket for singles works fine (i.e. Auggies), but it is kinda a pain. I'd love the convenience of non-random minis. My one question is how will this affect the D&D Miniatures Game? Personally, I don't care as I'm not a fan of the minis game, but having a Collectible...

An Opportunity for WotC in 2009

My fondest memories are from the 2e days. I don't know what makes you think it wasn't liked, it was still the most popular RPG at the time. Yeah, the system had some issues, but it worked fine for its time.

I got Reader's Guide to Drizzt

It does have that one picture of him and Cattie Brie where he looks old, but none of the old Easley paintings where he looks like an old man thankfully. I did like the original cover to Sojourn by Easley I thought that one was awesome, but I didn't see it there. I'll have to look again, but I...

I got Reader's Guide to Drizzt

This just came in today. I was really mad this wasn't available at Gencon because I wanted Salvatore to sign it for me. I haven't given it a thorough read yet, but I have to say at this point I'm pretty disappointed. I'm not sure who the art director was, but this book is a prime example of art...

    Churches Instead of Gods

We don't like the gods meddling in the affairs of man either so when we were working on Violet Dawn we did pretty much the same thing. The only difference is we call them Faiths. I didn't realize so many people had issues with gods in game as is. It's cool seeing other people we the same...

DDXP to be in Pittsburgh next year

Pittsburgh is a great town (Go STEELERS!), but everyone is jumping the gun: At Gen Con Indy this year, we announced a date and location for D&D Experience in 2009. The location and plans for the show are changing, and the previously announced date and location are no longer valid. We apologize...

    Who Will Get the Axe?

Man, why does really bad news always have to follow so closely on the heels of good news? :erm: Thanks for all you did Linae. Best of luck to you in whatever you do. I'd tell you to keep your chin up, but you obviously don't need that advice you've been a class act to the end. Take care!

Advanced Player's Guide Cover and Wallpaper

I was wondering how they were going to handle the whole redefining the term clause in the GSL. We get savage warriors, nature priests, martial artists, etc. Not the best of terms, but I would have done the same thing. The cover is nice, but I wish there was more color to the whole thing. That's...
