    Inner Circle's review of 4e

So what are you saying? I don't have the right to have an opinion of something even after I've played a few games and got to look through the books a couple times?

    Inner Circle's review of 4e

I'd agree. It's definitely more cinematic then any other edition. Its not hard to accomplish when the previous editions would have two characters stand next to each other for 12 rounds taking turns rolling 20s.

    Inner Circle's review of 4e

Good question. Considering I haven't had more than a few minutes with the core books its tough to say. I'll give you my thoughts on what I think now with the caveat that come this weekend I may do a complete 360. Plus, a lot of it depends on how much of a look they give us under the hood of the...

    Inner Circle's review of 4e

Cinematic in that they're like cinema? Yeah, I'm an idiot today and going 0-2 so far... I certainly have elements of cinematic flair in my combat at times, but its not all flashy Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon or Jackie Chan style craziness. A few of us have done stage combat and have martial...

    Inner Circle's review of 4e

Sorry, my bad. That's what I get for reading quickly and responding at work. That's a tough question for me. I'm assuming that you mean just the original PHB, DMG, and MM and not the expanded core (PHB2, MM2, etc.) that WotC is pushing for 4e, correct? Being a designer I'm more of a rules junky...

Wizards become the "needed" character over Clerics

I'm not. I removed my link.

Wizards become the "needed" character over Clerics

I really wouldn't know as I only played 1 game and we had one. It does seem like the roles aren't strictly necessary. I do find it odd that they didn't include an additional controller though.

Wizards become the "needed" character over Clerics

LOL. Yeah, because I need to do marketing to get people to my website so I can sell them nothing. How does that make sense?

    Inner Circle's review of 4e

I definitely like it for what it is. Would I be happy with 3.5 for 5 more years? If there was nothing else, sure. Yeah, I did have a lot of negatives, but I don't have the rules either and I played only once. A lot of that will probably change with time and a better understanding of the game. I...

Wizards become the "needed" character over Clerics

The big problem with all of the previous editions was you always had someone that "got stuck" with the Cleric. Personally, I hate Clerics and WotC solved the problem beautifully as the Warlord is a great class. Seems like that problems shifts to the Wizard in 4e now since they are the only...

    Inner Circle's review of 4e

I just finished a blog post on my thoughts on 4e. You can read it over on our blog, Arcane Sight. Overall, I'm really happy with this edition thus far. A lot of my gripes might be a bit premature since I don't have the books yet or haven't spent a lot of time with them, but I still think its...

Penny Arcade do 4th ed - Podcast

Why do they need kudos for that? They're playing D&D. How else do you imagine it sounding? It's not like it was scripted...

Hokey smokes-- designing a 4th edition class

I can't speak for WotC, but I'm pretty sure that making it difficult to make rules/classes wasn't even close to being one of their design goals. They work on this stuff more then other publishers do. They want a ruleset that is super easy to develop for.

Should I cancel amazon pre order and order from buy.com?

Where do you live? I live in North Eastern PA in Hazleton which is about 2 1/2 hours north of Philadelphia. I'm basically doing the same thing, driving 60 miles south to my "local" gaming store to pick up the PHB while I wait for my Core Rulebook set to come in from Amazon. Isn't PA awesome?

Should I cancel amazon pre order and order from buy.com?

I know you are right. I do feel the same way and my wife told me the same thing. ~sigh~ I guess I'm waiting another week... Thanks for being my conscience. I'll probably just disappear from this site until the 5th to see if they officially launch D&D Insider and the GSL around midnight. See...

Should I cancel amazon pre order and order from buy.com?

Thinking about it, if there is anything that I would have liked to have seen break street date its the GSL. I'm really curious what we can and can't do to support 4e.

Should I cancel amazon pre order and order from buy.com?

That isn't a bad idea, but I have a feeling that all of my friends are going to be talking about it. The other thing is considering that we are relaunching Inner Circle in a big way for 4e, I'm sure they'll all be trying to hit me up on my thoughts. I'll try and see if I can hold out, but...

Should I cancel amazon pre order and order from buy.com?

I really feel bad for Rouse and WotC. This sucks big time for them. A friend of mine ordered them right after the thread started on rpg.net and they shipped and he should have them tomorrow or Thursday so I'll get a peek. It kinda sucks though, call me an uber geek but I actually took off of...

    4e Link

You might want to remove the sublink for the 4e Forum on the homepage since all of the forum stuff got moved and that is going to the 4e Rules Forum now.

    New 4E ad causing problems

The ads don't bother me. I was actually really happy seeing them. Its nice to see EN World making some money.
