"You're a half elf? Really?" From the P.A. Podcasts

Well considering the drow were once light elves who turned their back on the surface world and adopted Lloth as their deity instead, that's pretty close. The races split several thousand years ago, but in the end, eladrin are still elves.

"You're a half elf? Really?" From the P.A. Podcasts

Well short people are funny and short people with big beards and an axe are even funnier. Seems like the logic to me :)

Why Changes were made in 4e

Actually the Pelor example feels like something is wrong in the book. They state that Unaligned can have clerics of anything but good must be good, lawful good must be lawful good. Then they take Pelor, a Good aligned god, and say they can be eitehr Good or Unaligned. Which goes against what...

"You're a half elf? Really?" From the P.A. Podcasts

Another Tanis analogy, to go with the wishy-washy. Tanis Half-Elven = Charlie Brown with pointy ears. I don't know if any of the rest of the Heroes of the Lance match up against the Peanuts gang..maybe Tika and Freida, what with her naturally curly hair.

    D&D 5E (2014) What direction should 5th edition take?

Wait...looking thru the new edition and not finding a need to house rule bad/irritating rules is being viewed as a bad thing?! Or you mean that about 3.x? If it's the latter, definitely not my view on things. I'm a packrat, I have all my old books. I have friends who spent thousands of...

"You're a half elf? Really?" From the P.A. Podcasts

Which now makes me picture "Wil Wheaton:Eladrin". Gamer stepping between realities to show up behind you, ready to roll his d20 to attack! heh

    4E "Core"

Boring*? :) *I like 4E, don't mind the cross section of classes in the PHB, but there's so much more out there that would be fun at the table too

"You're a half elf? Really?" From the P.A. Podcasts

Uhm...what? Let's look at this again, with a bit of extra bolding by yours truly: Kind of hard to see that as anything but a swipe at others. A true statement about many of the people I have played Vampire with over the years, but certainly not a requirement. :) Right after 2nd Ed came...

    Removing homogenity from 4e

Specialist mages and priests were sub-classes of the base class. I never counted them as separate classes. Bards were indeed in the 2E PHB, but they weren't all that. Bards didn't get remotely decent until the Complete Bards Handbook came out. 4E PHB has 8 classes Cleric, Fighter, Paladin...

    Removing homogenity from 4e

Actually most Rogue abilities are quite specific that they are for Melee Weapons. The ones that mention Ranged weapons are then quite specific to crossbow, light blade or sling. So discussion with your DM or a possible feat/etc in another supplement would be needed. Straight, by the book PHB...

    Removing homogenity from 4e

It was Hussar who was complaining about somehow ending up with backstab and such. There are 4 core archetypes for D&D and they are the Cleric (healer), Wizard (damage spells and utility), rogue (stabby death), fighter (2H or sword and board). All other classes are permutations of these, by and...

    Why I'm done with 4e

You seem to be expecting to find a table in the DMG that says "Blindness DC15 Deafness DC17" etc. I look at page 42 and I think "Hey, I want to take that bowl full of salt and throw it in the bully's eyes to blind him, how hard would that be?" "Uhm...he's kinda drunk right now so his reaction...

    Removing homogenity from 4e

Skill Training makes it a class skill, Skill Focus adds a +3 to the skill. Play a Half Elf for added Diplomacy bonus. 2 Feats spent in those first couple of levels will be felt more strongly than when the character is level 14, but yes you would lose some fighting ability, provided you would...

    Removing homogenity from 4e

People mis-spell Hagen as Hagan or think it's my last name and Kirk my first all the time. Heh. My daughter turns 4 today and she walks up to me and asks me to hand her the invisible trophy or says she is looking for her invisible purse, filled with invisible makeup and lipstick. She builds a...

    Why I'm done with 4e

Success vs failure and how to adjudicate it is what the entire left side of the page is about. The right side of the page is what deals with damage. Guidelines for success and failure is sometimes the only condition I need. This page gives some good basic information to the DM and also gives...

On homogeneity, or how I finally got past the people talking past each other part

I'll admit I have very little good to say about 3E, but then, I'm pretty happy with 4E. The things that annoyed me most about 3E were things that were minimized (Alignment) or removed (Vancian magic). Is 4E a toolbox for doing everything? No, but they also didn't try for it to be. I do think...

    Why I'm done with 4e

I've had stunt rulings in prior editions where the DM gave far too much (or too little) damage for what we all felt was appropriate. Page 42 gives a handy guideline for that damage. It also gives the encouragement to fudge things a bit and not keep everything rigid, which is one of the things...

    Removing homogenity from 4e

In 1989 (2E) we thought Paladins were an awful class with ridiculous/highly situational abilities so none of us played them. In 2009 (4E) Paladins are great. Progress.

    Removing homogenity from 4e

Druids didn't turn up in our groups too often b/c if we wanted a healer, we wanted the better healer, and that meant a Cleric. I can count on one hand all the druids I gamed with during the 3.x era. Rogue and Bard were extremely similar, the Bard had spells and some other things the Rogue...

2 Years of Eric Noah + 8 Years of Morrus = 10 years of EN World!

Wow has it really been 10 years already? I remember finding this site shortly after Eric had started it. Man I've spent a lot of time here heh.
