Sorry Shaw, not Vickers, got them mixed up. I see what you're saying about the life form being the sleeping engineer, but why would that fade in and out, would that not just be a constant - the alternative being creatures that move in and out of the goo?

That's fair, but odd. I do remember the scene with the boot print. Why were the worms there? Were they reactivated when air broke in to the room. Why only 2 infected worms with all of that goo spilling out. I dunno, they don't seem related, plus they came from another part of the ship...

*sigh* BUT, these guys have TRAINED to use their wis or dex to gain bonuses to their to hit or damage. I would agree if you want to use a stat to use some other stat then the base stat (str for melee, dex for ranged) then having to "burn" a feat to do it makes sense. Otherwise why bother...

I would agree, detect abilities are overpowered and difficult. Detect evil should be on the creature or even the place, "I detect evil" shouldn't ruin every mystery, nor should it give away a character's alignment, it should give away creatures or places that emanate evil. I even have issues...

Well said. And I agree with pretty much your entire wish list, except not scaling AC. I think Defenses and BAB should both scale and they should scale by level, not by Class. What I mean is, a fighter is good with melee weapons - great he gets bonuses to use all melee weapons, but a cleric...
