    D&D 5E (2014) L&L for November 18

I would never place race in front of class. It harkens back to only choosing certain race and class combinations. Now with 5e that gap is less pronounced that it used to be.

Pathfinder 1E What happened to "Basic Pathfinder"?

Not really a fan of gateway products to begin with if the idea is that they present some simple and then hope you don't mind jumping over to a complex product. Shadowrun does this too, they have a quickstart product that pretty simple, then hope you jump to their main book which is extremely...

Pathfinder 1E What happened to "Basic Pathfinder"?

Yeah I am thinking 5e is more what I am looking for, as long as they don't mess up monsters and NPC creation. I want to reiterate that my purpose was to not come in here and crap on what people like. Just stating that I probably would have purchased a "basic" PF line had Paizo created one. Had...

Pathfinder 1E What happened to "Basic Pathfinder"?

Agreed. There isn't a single game that I would consider perfect. Each game out there is "broken" to some degree. I admit I react a bit strongly in my distaste of 3e/PF , I ran a long standing 3e game at it all came crashing down as high level play and some of the design implications of 3e got in...

Pathfinder 1E What happened to "Basic Pathfinder"?

yeah...see I am not interested in upgrading to (IMHO) a broken set of rules. I am interested in innovation and smooth easy to play rules. I realize that people consider PF to be smooth and innovative, I do not. I do get the reasons listed by the Paizo people though for not supporting a "basic"...

Would Paizo Make a Better Steward for Our Hobby?

In fairness this response is better than your first one. Paizo does market their brand of 3.5 well to their intended audience. Thus people who are in that audience are more inclined to say "yes" to the answer posed by the OP because currently Paizo speaks to what they like. Could Paizo...

Pathfinder 1E What happened to "Basic Pathfinder"?

And then dropped support for it? I might have gotten into "basic Pathfinder"

Would Paizo Make a Better Steward for Our Hobby?

Paizo makes some great products. I'm not a fan of 3e either. If they did take over my fear is that they would keep us stuck to what is IHMO not a great set of rules.

Would Paizo Make a Better Steward for Our Hobby?

I think that there is a tendency for people to say yes to Paizo. I get that Paizo is popular. However being neutral to Paizo think that they wouldn't be as great as people think. They would run a large risk of turning of turning into what people dislike.

Mari Kolkowsky (D&D Art Director) got laid off yesterday

That happened to me when I got laid off. it's dirty, but its what corporations do

Mari Kolkowsky (D&D Art Director) got laid off yesterday

Speaking as someone who really dislikes 3e/PF that would be the worst case senario. Unless they developed a better lighter game.

Mari Kolkowsky (D&D Art Director) got laid off yesterday

Sad news. Getting laid off is NEVER a good thing. Also, isn't Chris Sims back at WotC?

    D&D 5E (2014) Chris Perkins - D&D Next Game Hole Con Panel

4e monster design was brilliant. Why spend tons of time creating the creature or NPC when they would not last long anyways? When it comes right down to it I have reskinned creatures and no one was ever the wiser. Why come up with any thing complex?

    D&D 5E (2014) L&L November 4th Warlock Design

http://www.wizards.com/dnd/Article.aspx?x=dnd/4ll/20131104 I was hoping for some actual mechanics rather than conceptual ideas about the class. But it does sound cool.

ICv2 has D&D in third place after Star Wars

This is really what I was trying to say

ICv2 has D&D in third place after Star Wars

Keep in mind that the hobby is experiencing a period of growth right now according to ICV2 This could also show how many people are playing older versions of D&D, which might explain what WotC decided to go with all of these reprints.
