Well it'll be someone's 5e. Will it be a lot of peoples 5e? Doubt it. If you don't have brand recognition or be in the right place at the right time (Paizo), people are tired of yet another fantasy heartbreaker.

I think you over-estimate 13th Age. Paizo/Pathfinder was in the right place at the right time. Thus far we don't know that D&Dnext won't give 4e players what they are looking for.

A Hurdle? Not the word I would have chosen. There isn't the demand for 13th Age like there was for Pathfinder
