Question: Is a year-long D&DI subscription worth it?

I don't think you could call that a personal attack, nothing is hyperbole or made up there. Both of those are positions expressed by the poster in question.

Question: Is a year-long D&DI subscription worth it?

Which is, of course, another favorite line of attack he uses. "4e sucks because it doesn't have the build options of 3e." Here's a ton of options! "Munchkin..."

The Druid makes me chew the furniture

I'm hoping shapechanging looks like your speculation, rechan. A few easy stat adjustments, and *limited choices* would be nice. No more pouring through MMs looking for the greatest advantage... It would be neat if the forms were kind of generic, like vermin, bird, big mammal and the stats...

How Many Beers per Gaming Session?

It's the same Newcastle. I've had it both in America and the UK and its basically the same outside of that slightly different way everything tastes in another country. The weird thing about beer is how people regard those from other countries drinking their beer. We here in America hear...

    Would you drop this player?

Maybe you aren't giving the guy enough credit. How much do you know about him as a player? Perhaps he's built a character that isn't already heroic so he can grow him into a hero over the course of the game. Communicating with the player is the only way to know.

How Many Beers per Gaming Session?

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe it's a youth thing? I know in college I didn't spend much time drinking casually, it seemed a waste of limited resources to imbibe expensive alcohol without the express intent to get wasted.

How Many Beers per Gaming Session?

It wasn't intended to be insulting, at all. Maybe poor word choice? But I don't find 'prudish' very insulting myself, chiding perhaps. It was a response to the rather staunch no alcohol policies of several of the posters. My apologies if that offended anyone.

Question: Is a year-long D&DI subscription worth it?

Absolutely. Dragon and Dungeon so far have been worth it almost by themselves. But full access to the crunch from all books published as well through the compendium and their, proposed, speedy integration into the Character Builder is more than a clincher. I was very skeptical on WotCs...

How Many Beers per Gaming Session?

Wow, a much more prudish attitude towards alcohol than I expected. My group averages about 4 beers a man, but this is a bit lopsided. Myself (DM) and one other player usually split a 12-pack and my brother will generally have 1-3, the other player doesn't generally drink. However, I recently...

Who's on first? (Forked Thread: [WotC_Logan] Why is Tiamat Huge?)

Really? Size = power? Hmm, I think someone might be compensating for something... :p Spot on.

    Is momentum conserved when teleporting?

I would leave it up to my players. "As you can see I have this baseball bat beside the gaming table. I'm going to'teleport' it next to your head, do you want momentum to be preserved or not?" I find things work out much better when you leave it in the hands of the players. :)

4E being immune to criticism (forked from Sentimentality And D&D...)

Correct. It's clear from a reading of the rules. Anything that can move can slide. And many powers push, pull and slide more than 1 square. CAGI is one of them. Yes, because the rules of forced movement apply to anything that can move. If a human is slowed to a move of 2, it can still be...

4E being immune to criticism (forked from Sentimentality And D&D...)

Again, you aptly demonstrate that you haven't read and don't understand the game you are trying to attack. Really? That's a challenge? Cleric: I call for Pelor's Divine Blessing upon Joe the Fighter. A flash of sunlight seems to envelop me then disappears. I channel the divine gift through...

    D&D 4E How I Fixed 4e

I seem to recall you mentioning this ages ago in one of the many 4e hates craft threads. I like the idea for when you think you'll need regular mechanical support for it. And I like that it doesn't hurt players who want to have such "flavor" skills and force an exchange. In my game...

4E being immune to criticism (forked from Sentimentality And D&D...)

Now ladies and gentlemen, THIS is a strawman! With this nonsense, I guess the easiest way to beat a castle would be to declare it an enemy and stand within 15' of a corner, then use CAGI to draw the walls off its foundation and collapse the castle! You could at least pretend to be serious. The...

4E being immune to criticism (forked from Sentimentality And D&D...)

Yeah, that's it, you nailed it. All TRUE roleplayers must hate 4e since TRUE IMMERSION has been dumped in favor of a tactical minis video game. TRUE IMMERSION comes from rules, not the players of the game. No one who plays 4e can be TRUE HARDCORE GAMERS, since the system doesn't, in any way...

4E being immune to criticism (forked from Sentimentality And D&D...)

Swing and a miss. Swarms, slimes and oozes live to attack, drawing them in is not very challenging. It would not work on something that cannot move. The power says they must shift IF POSSIBLE. Something that cannot move cannot shift. Grimlocks engaged in a fight with the PCs are enemies, it...

    Players as nobles and landowners.

10 posts in and you already have a serf uprising. I love it! This is what is cool about running that type of game, endless problems. If a player never, at some point, puts his head in his hands and says "sometimes I wish we'd never gotten this castle" you aren't doing it right. :)

4E being immune to criticism (forked from Sentimentality And D&D...)

It's not a strawman. Posters have been arguing throughout this thread that MANY martial powers don't work unless explained as mystical or inherently magical. When I hit this line above with examples related to heroic acts from fiction the response from the people raising those issues was "well...

    Players as nobles and landowners.

When I've done this in the past, I play it out much like an TBS like the Civilization series or village building components of RTS games, its a resource management game. I write up a breakdown of the population, working age, children, elderly. The first order of business is food, how many...
