If it helps advance the story line, then I as a player and a DM do not really care if there is minor cheating (or meta-gameing for that matter). Once a player or DM does it to just get all the attention and/or distract from the story line. Then I have a problem with it.

Call of Cthulhu D20 does that for psionics. They have a diffrent system for spells though (loss of sanity each time you cast one, hehehe).

Another option would be to give them some kind of bonus each level or two to their grapple checks. That would show their experiance in those types of manuvers. Another things I would add is that at 1st level they do not provoke an AoO when making an unarmed attack to start a grapple or trip.

Humans get an extra Feat at first level. So with what you have found plus being human. You could have 4 feats (5 if your a Fighter).
