    Wall of Fire Question

Both of my wall examples got hosed because all the spaces got taken out. The second one I showed was correct, it was staggered, but overlapped. Thanks again. And thanks to the person who awarded XP for me.

    Wall of Fire Question

Darn, it won't let me give you XP. Says I need to spread it around some more. I'll hit you another time. Thanks again.

    Wall of Fire Question

I never thought to look up the definition of Wall. Per the compendium: A wall fills a specified number of contiguous squares within range, starting from an origin square. Each square of the wall must share a side—not just a corner—with at least one other square of the wall, but a square can...

    Wall of Fire Question

Last night in my game, we had a question about Wall of Fire. I'm surprised it hasn't come up yet. The spell says: You conjure a wall that consists of contiguous squares filled with arcane fire. It can be up to 8 squares long and up to 4 squares high. The player cast it and filled up his 8...

Tell Me About Savage Worlds (please)...

My group has tried it a couple times and enjoyed it. But you can't play it like D&D. You don't grind out combat. I can't believe that no one has mentioned War of the Dead. One of the best 3rd party supplements I have ever read. War of the Dead (Chapter One Subscription) - Daring...

Ways to get a PC kidnapped.

The player who plays our cleric knew he would miss a few sessions, so I kidnapped her. It was a really effective way to remove her while he was gone. It was fairly simple, being the cleric, she tended not to mix it up much, so during a nighttime encounter, she hung back and then just...

Puzzles you have put in to the game

I have a mixed bag. 2 big puzzle lovers, 2 who are ok with it, and one who doesn't care for them, but appreciates the fact that the others do, so he makes the most of it. The second best puzzle I ever used, I used my first night DMing these guys. Try placing 8 queens on a chess board without...

Has someone used the eye or hand of Vecna?

My players will be questing for the hand, eye, and heart of Vecna soon, but they will need to destroy them so when they finally face Vecna, he won't discorpulate, or whatever it is Gods do not to get killed.

    Table?

We use a pair of folding tables. Put them together, and we get a 6x6 table. As the DM, I get one side and the players split the other 3. The map easily fits in the middle, however, we've recently moved to projecting it on the wall. Even more table space. I have high dreams to build a touch...

    The DnD table??

Always at a table, but with a recent caveat. Growing up, picnic tables, school tables, dining room tables, anything, When my current group started, we used a round table. It was pretty cool, but then it got replaced with 2 3x6 fold up tables. We have recently moved to projecting the map on...

    Computers, Projectors, and Battle Maps.

I will second that. That torrent has more images than I could ever use. Well worth the bandwidth.

Is old school a good way to introduce younger players to D&D?

This is a topic that I've contributed to a couple times in the past. I have a 7 year old daughter and a 4 year old. They love rolling dice and playing with minis. Now that my group has gone digital, with a projector, they love seeing the big fancy map on the wall. At this age, I have no need...

    Revenge of the iron lich

Talk about Serendipity! My players are about to enter the Tower of Acererak this week. I wanted something like the Tomb of Horror's. So far I've read the first few pages and can't wait to pillage the rest of this for ideas. Thanks guys.

Are Ipad Apps easier to create than Windows 7?

I suspect part of it is that having a tablet at the game table is much less intrusive than a laptop. So form factor.

D&D 4E Is it me, or are we in a 4e dry spell?

Absolutely. But at the same time, 4E has become a more mature product, so there will be fewer additions to it. How many martial powers books can you print before everything becomes redundant, or you get power creep? I'd like to see more DM books, like Open Grave, Plane Above, etc. But I...

Corpses on the battlefield = difficult terrain?

Before we went digital, it was a running joke that any dead creature on the map would be coming back. And it was true. Being digital, we leave them and in most cases, call them difficult terrain. The options to trip/slip, etc in that square are the reason.

    Virtual tabletops?

Here is another vote for maptools. Free, solid, haven't had any problems with it. The video tutorials are another huge plus.

    The Dungeon Rumble

I did something like this 2 weeks ago. Because of weather, our in person game got canceled. Since we recently started using maptools for one traveling player, and in person, I threw together a delve the night before. The theme was simple, Abyssal Arena. No one knew anything except the name...

    Computers, Projectors, and Battle Maps.

As a group that has recently moved to the wall, I have to disagree with all the negativity. We use the built in tokens from maptools, or the players went and found an image they liked and we made it a token. Heck, they could draw one if any of them had the skill to do so. On top of that...
