[Star Wars] Saga Edition's New Damage System

The listed explanation for VP/WP's problems is kind of wacky, since it's out of context compared to other lethality benchmarks. A 40% chance of death by level 20 due to dumb luck? As opposed to what, exactly? There are a lot of flukey ways to die before 20th level. I bet that if someone actually...

White Wolf can take their Web Extras & Shove it!

Uh, no. Advertising web extras is also pretty common. Then that kind of blows the "standard of practice" argument out of the water, doesn't it? You mean aside from accusing the company of a deliberate deception? No, it's actual discussion of what's going on, which tends to neither support...

White Wolf can take their Web Extras & Shove it!

To call them on it, you might consider, y'know, actually contacting the company. You can email them or post on their boards. It's pretty easy. Which buyers? As far as I can tell, the majority of posters have come here with no intention of ever buying anything the company produces (or admitting...

There was no advertising. I note a decided lack of a response to this relevant fact.

Industry Advice for buying a hobby game store

Use the pull list model (used in comic stores now) for most RPGs outside of D&D and one or two other lines. Unsold stock is a huge problem. Use Ebay to regularly offload anything that isn't moving. Most importantly, compose a business plan good to your first year and get an accountant.

White Wolf can take their Web Extras & Shove it!

Except, of course, they didn't advertise it. They stuck a note and an index in the book. This kind of thing happens all the time, with multiple companies. I can sift through about 20 years of RPGs on my shelves and give you a whole bunch of promised products that were never released...

White Wolf can take their Web Extras & Shove it!

If one were quite so picky about wasted time, I submit that there are a hell of a lot of people to hold accountable before you go to some game company in Georgia. That old guy in the hat (it's always an old guy in a hat, isn't it?) who drove below the limit in front of you the other day, for...

White Wolf can take their Web Extras & Shove it!

I'd say it was something like that. What's most likely is that it was developed under the assumption that there'd just be a small amount of extra material that the company would put up on their website, but when it went into production, layout just couldn't squeeze all that material in, or there...

White Wolf can take their Web Extras & Shove it!

Well, I'd say you're entitled to a replacement or refund. I don't know about "slapdash game design," especially when many of the people who hold sway over the court of opinion here often to not deign to actually play what they critique. As a Mage freelancer, I was always frustrated at the...

White Wolf can take their Web Extras & Shove it!

I think it's rather premature to ascribe some kind of deceptive intent. It's not like WW can trick someone into using their Paypal account or credit card, and -- and I mention this to remind people of what we're talking about here -- I doubt that a non-applicable index and a reference to a...

    Q on Scarred Lands

I think the Divine and the Defeated is pretty much the SL book that details the central premise of the setting. I also found it more useful that Deities and Demigods, were the gods are a bit too uber for me to comfortably DM.

White Wolf can take their Web Extras & Shove it!

Why don't you email them and ask for one, then? Or post on the WW WoW RPG board? I think your annoyance is somewhat valid, but if you're looking for a response from the company, this probably isn't the best place to get it.

You misunderstand. I really *do* respect your opinion as far as I understand anything about it, whether I agree with it or not. Without any information about why, that's the best anyone can do. If it was about Pimp, for instance, I could easily see why. If it's about how Justin Achilli made fun...

White Wolf can take their Web Extras & Shove it!

It's a double standard, but that doesn't mean that the company didn't make a mistake. But looking back, it would do to keep a sense of proportion about *how* big a mistake it is. I mean, the guy who started the thread just said he liked most of the book except for two pages: one with the web...

I note you're an Exalted wikieditor on WW's site. Ah, here we are: http://wiki.white-wolf.com/exalted/index.php/RedFox So aside from being a fan of one of their games and adding content to their site, what have *you* done to stop supporting White Wolf?

White Wolf can take their Web Extras & Shove it!

No, I'm talking about Arthaus, which is effectively a WW brand. I don't even know if it's separately incorporated or not. WW has done some very dumb things. Sometimes they do the wrong thing for the right reason (the MET license), and sometimes they just do something totally dumb (like Pimp)...

White Wolf can take their Web Extras & Shove it!

Actually, this is what is says about the business practices: A nonprofit organization by the name of the Camarilla (not to be confused with the current club) took money for services it advertised and didn't provide, then attempted to block White Wolf's use of their own intellectual property by...

White Wolf can take their Web Extras & Shove it!

So you hate WW, but not another company with exactly the same staff and executives? Actually, nothing of the sort happened. Only the card backs changed, which did not affect game play. It was always possible to mix cards in casual games. See...
