The 2025 Pumpkin Spice RPG Contest

I’m not a fan of pumpkin spice, personally, nor pumpkin in general. There’s a Burmese place near me that makes FANTASTIC pumpkin curry stew, however, that is worth committing crimes for. Context given… How about Pumpkin Spice Marines for Warhammer 40k?

GURPS Fantasy / Dungeon Fantasy (and beyond)

I’m pretty certain it wasn’t AH, because I have almost no true wargames from them. I don’t remember Victory. I think my only West End Games were RPGs. So of those, t would almost have to be SPI or Metagaming. It might have been a TSR or Task Force Game, though. My mind is telling me that...

GURPS Fantasy / Dungeon Fantasy (and beyond)

I’m trying to remember which of my wargames used an array of regularly spaced dots instead of hexes or squares. It never caught on.

D&D General Why do people like Alignment?

Mod Note: Your account goes back to 2002- you should know better than quoting moderation posts in thread, which is against the TOS. However, even though you technically violated the rule, your intent was not to challenge moderation- the spirit of the rule. So I can’t just let it slide without...

D&D General Why do people like Alignment?

Mod Note: Peeps, let’s dial back the hyperbolic rhetoric. Saying “no”- as a player or GM- isn’t tyranny. Let’s just drop that as an accusation, please.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

FWIW, my Champions 1900 campaign (supers using the Space:1889 campaign setting) featured PCs like an English gentleman who affected the appearance of a stereotypical circus strongman (bald, mustachioed and with leopardskin & club), an American Secret Service agent a la James West, a flying sonic...

And since the fax machine was invented in the 1840s, that could have been the method by which they arranged to meet and commence their gathering.

Mod Note: Civility is highly valued on ENworld; this confrontational style of post is a good example of the opposite. Do better going forward, please.

I went through a brief period when I played: 1) A gnome barbarian with bladed gauntlets 2) A halfling barbarian with bladed gauntlets 3) A gnome ranger with twin repeating hand crossbows (loaded with silver tipped bolts) and a giant space hamster steed named Mithril

    Roll for Effect or Intent?

Mod Note: Y’all, there’s better ways to express disagreement than accusing others of pulling your leg or stirring the pot. And if you honestly believe that’s what another poster is doing, don’t confront them by making it personal. Instead, disengage (politely) and/or report the posts you’ve...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

My point was illustrating that the position that nobody should have an input on what you do on your own property is ultimately untenable in the context of a community. Yes, governments (at all levels) do have those powers and more. But details matter. Houston is the 4th largest city in the...

My teeny-tiny college had a terrible football team when I attended. It was so bad, they sold off some of the bleachers to a local HS. We were a tennis power, not football. (Or baseball or basketball…) Decades later, I was watching some small sports channel, and they were airing the...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Why would the city get involved? The property owners were doing what they wanted with their land. Even from the environmental impact standpoint, at most the city might be able to enforce a minimum number of trees remain on each plot or within a given square acreage within the new subdivision.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

In my experience, local governments can’t be bothered. They have bigger fish to fry. And sometimes, they don’t bother with those. There’s a neighborhood here in D/FW that had to fight a property owner for years about their permitting illegal dumping on an undeveloped plot, and that case...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

In our subdivision, nearly all of the tree removal was done by the original builder/developers. The HOA didn’t have a hand in those decisions. (They can, however, nix certain replacements plants.)

Not missing that. Not at all. I’m including “within a community”. Every right comes with a corresponding responsibility or limitation. The non-bigotry based limitations on what you can/can’t do with your home within a community are generally applications of Wheaton’s Law. For example, you...
