Paizo Ends Pathfinder Adventure Path Softcovers, Switching to Quarterly Model

I'm aware, but they don't publish nearly as many adventures in this range. There are some notable gaps in the 1-20 level range. I'd like to see them publish more.

Paizo Ends Pathfinder Adventure Path Softcovers, Switching to Quarterly Model

Definitely had a knee-jerk upon seeing this, but honestly the change isn't that big. They've been doing smaller APs for awhile now and while I'm not exactly sure of the rate of release 4 of these a year sounds about right. I'd love to see them release some more module length content though...

OSR OSR-inspired video game, The Secret of Weepstone, has a trailer

I asked about the underlying system on reddit and one of the developers responded. Says they started with B/X D&D and then added more bits and bobs as they went to improve the experience. Probably where the crits came from.

What is a West Marches game?

I want to know what West Marches discord's y'all were in. Its something I've always wanted to do but its hard to tell a good game apart from the mediocre ones, especially when it comes to a nebulous "discord."

What is a West Marches game?

Generally speaking, you don't end in the dungeon or wilderness, you end the session when you get back to town. If that means ending the session a little earlier or later than normal, oh well, but its up to the players to manage their time. There's also plenty of house-rules for things like...

Have You Used The X Card Or Seen It Used In Person?

I've never used the X-Card, but I've had situations where we basically invoked it, just without the presence of an actual card. For example, a campaign my brother ran where one of our party was getting flirted with by an NPC. Another of our player's had a new power that allowed him to see...

Critical Role Teases Campaign 4 World Via ARG

Oh I did not hear that about Glass Cannon. That's very interesting. I'm very intrigued.

Critical Role Teases Campaign 4 World Via ARG

Oh, very cryptic. Very exciting. I know some CR fans are a bit upset by both the DM choice and change of setting, but I couldn't be more excited. I want to see Matt get those wonderful character moments like all his players do, and get them immortalized in fan art.

D&D General More Details Revealed for Forgotten Realms Digital Expansions

I hate digital exclusives, especially when you have to buy the overpriced "Ultimate Bundle" to get it. Feels like all the worst things about the EA and Ubisoft business model for video games, but now applied to my favorite analog hobby. Not surprised, just disappointed.

SHIFT Roleplaying System from Hit Point Press

I wonder if this means Hit Point Press is moving away from D&D? It certainly seems like all the largest 3rd party publishers are starting to distance themselves from the brand, or build their own games.

Critical Role's The Mighty Nein Reveals First Look, Season 1 to Air on November 19th

What's interesting is I feel like CR didn't quite used to be this way. I mean, they've always been really role-play heavy, but I found in C1 and early parts of C2, the players were pretty attentive and on-point with their characters. C1 in particular feels like they're playing D&D and not...

Critical Role Announces Video Game Development Plans

They're certainly keeping themselves busy. Curious to see what they produce. Dispatch looks fun.

Draw Steel: Fake variety helps no one

Yeah Matt likes his sci-fi stuff. That AD&D Barrier Peaks type vibe is pretty on brand for him. For example, in his chain of Acharon game they spent a significant amount of time on the astral plane (with background music created by modular synthesizer) and in another one (Dusk I believe) he...

Bob Worldbuilder debunks the Daggerheart license “scandal”

The stuff like this is why I'm so burned out on D&D YouTube, actually YouTube in general. Its just exhausting and disingenuous.

    D&D General Zero-Prep D&D Game?

I've never done literally no prep before, but I think I could. I've run enough low-level adventures that if a bunch of friends asked to play D&D I could probably improvise a session with 2 - 3 fights, some RP and a trap and treasure without cracking open a single book. I'm not sure its...

Dark Horse Reveals First Dungeons & Dragons Comic

I can't believe we're still talking about the Rogue's weight negatively here. When I first saw the Fallbacks cover I never once even considered her weight, nor do I think we need some magic justification why a big woman can be stealthy.

Games based on Into the Odd, if that’s the right phrase

Mouse Guard I think is based on Burning Wheel and the comic book of the same name. Mausritter also started as more of a zine/phamphlet style game, and later got a fancier box-set with a hardcover, but I think it was always based on Into the Odd.

    Dragonbane general thread

I know it probably irritates the DoD purists, but Dragonbane absolutely scratches a "D&D but simpler" itch for me, so the lack of a Priest/Cleric/Etc is notable to me. Third party has got me covered though. One of the issues of Dragonzine has a Cleric type class with unique spellcasting that...

Lord of the Rings Roleplaying 5E

Is this the version from Free League? I played Cubicle 7's Adventures in Middle Earth and thought it was thoroughly mediocre. I'm interested to hear if FL improved on it at all. In particular, AiME classes were just 5e's with the magic removed (like some bad homebrew), so the "Fighter,"...
